Rebecca "Becca" Shore finally has her life back in order. She's the estranged daughter of her socialite family whom she felt she could never please, but now she is pursuing her goal as a journalist. True she is only an assistant at Moderne magazine, and nothing she suggests gets chosen as this is little more than a rag, but it's an open doorway to what she really wants to do. She can not imagine that in a short time she will come across one SEDUCTIVE MELODY that could make her or could very well break her.
Ethan Kelly is the wild Kelly, an addict trying hard to recover and get his life back in order. It is hard especially after losing his best friend and bandmate to an overdose. Now clean and trying hard to get back with his family and his work, he finds a lifeline in Becca. She's guiding him back from the darkness. Soon he finds himself trusting her with more than his worries ... he opens up his heart.
The story of the drug addicted rock star might be too much to pass up ... it could be the blast her career needs. But can her heart take such a risk ....
SEDUCTIVE MELODY will grab you by the heart and holds on until the fantastic last word. I have read all of the Kelly Brothers books by author Crista McHugh and each one takes us into a different aspect of life. This one is an in depth look at the trials and temptations of drugs. Ethan is a musician and Rebecca comes from money but both succumbed to the use of drugs and both are working to recover themselves. I admired both of them and the way it was written I felt as if I were with them as they took each step toward sobriety and each other. Becca, who had been attending Narcotics Anonymous for a longer time and was introduced to Ethan and asked to be his sponsor until he became accustomed to the group and chose his own. I liked how she pushed him and herself to take the steps needed to get the rewards life has to offer. Fantastic story and the snag of mistrust that they hit doesn't last but a few pages so there wasn't a long separation to suffer through ... a personal dislike of mine but Ms. McHugh didn't make us or them suffer too long. I loved A SEDUCTIVE MELODY and look forward to whatever else Ms. McHugh comes up with. It joins the other books by her in my TRA shelf.
