They say the most important part of a book is the first
sentence. And WALLFLOWER GONE WILD begins with what could
be
the best first sentence of all time, and it sets the tone
for the rest of the book. The first sentence, the first
paragraph, the first page will stay with me forever.
I love the Wallflower series as well as its modern
counterpart, The Bad Boy Billionaire series, and anyone
who
has read What a Girl Wants knew the third and last
instalment of the Wallflower series would not consist of
hilarious romps and chaotic madness. I had some idea of
what
was coming in WALLFLOWER GONE WILD, but I did not expect
something as extraordinary.
Miss Prudence Merryweather Payton, unfortunately known as
London's Least Likely to Be Caught in a Compromising
Position, in order not to be the remaining unmarried
Wallflower had agreed to a marriage of convenience with a
suitable fop, but on her way back to London, things go
very
wrong, and she is forced her to accept the offer of a
handsome stranger. Prudence will be stuck in a little
country inn for days because of the inclement weather with
her rescuer. She is hiding a devastating secret, but her
handsome saviour, John Roark, Viscount Castleton, appears
to
understand. He craves her rare smiles, he wants to
alleviate
the sorrow that is apparently consuming her. John is
slowly
falling in love with Prudence but he knows it cannot
happen:
his own dark past could make it impossible and yet, he is
drawn to the quiet girl, as she slowly starts to come out
of
her gloomy shell.
WALLFLOWER GONE WILD is a remarkable book; intense,
dramatic, and quite a departure from the two previous
Wallflower books. It's heartbreaking yet uplifting, it
will
leave you chocked up, it will make you cry, despair, then
hope, and smile. Maya Rodale is a wonderful writer, and in
WALLFLOWER GONE WILD she reveals how extremely gifted she
truly is, what extraordinary writing skills she possesses.
The story is troubling, fascinating, powerful and
realistic;
the characters are probably the best she has ever written,
and her talent for tragedy is as strong as her flair for
comedy. WALLFLOWER GONE WILD, in my humble opinion, has
all
the makings of a classic. A truly exceptional book!
Miss Prudence Merryweather Payton has a secret.
Everyone knows that she's the only graduate from her
finishing school to remain unwed on her fourth season—but
no
one knows why. With her romantic illusions shattered after
being compromised against her will, Prudence accepts a
proposal even though her betrothed is not exactly a knight
in shining armor. When he cowardly pushes her out of their
stagecoach to divert a highwayman, she vows never to trust
another man again.
John Roark, Viscount Castleton, is nobody's hero.
He's a blue-eyed charmer with a mysterious past and
ambitious plans for his future—that do not include a wife.
When he finds himself stranded at a country inn with a
captivating young woman, a delicate dance of seduction
ensues. He knows he should keep his distance. And he
definitely shouldn't start falling in love with her.
When Prudence's dark past comes back to haunt her, John
must
protect her—even though he risks revealing his own secrets
that could destroy his future.
