A strange bracelet is all that saves them....
Siblings Hannah and Amanda Given have never had an easy
relationship. From an early age, they have fought. Now
they
find themselves, along with four strangers, trapped in a
new
world. Their old world is destroyed, as only the odd
bracelet placed on each of them has saved them from
certain
death. Will they learn to navigate the new world as well
as
their strange new abilities?
THE FLIGHT OF THE SILVERS is the first book in the
Silvers series. I love the depth of the character
development as well as the creativity of how the
apocalypse
of the old world (our world) occurs. The animosity between
the two sisters helps shape the interactions of the other
characters. Getting to know Mia, David, Zack, Theo,
Hannah,
and Amanda is a definite highlight of THE FLIGHT OF THE
SILVERS as Daniel Price brings their characters vividly
alive.
The storyline spends a large amount of time focusing on
how
the characters learn and develop their new abilities.
However, this became almost tedious as the characters
became
caught up in their own melodrama and we see versions of
the
same scenarios repeating themselves. The twists involving
Evan are brilliant but so few and far between as it
appears
we will have to wait till the next book to see how all of
this plays out.
THE FLIGHT OF THE SILVERS is a science fiction story that
will appeal to readers looking for a lengthy and very
character driven storyline. The alternate world is
fascinating as is the science behind it and I'm sure that
fans of this type of story will enjoy Daniel Price's THE
FLIGHT OF THE SILVERS.
A thrilling genre-bending saga about six extraordinary people whose fates become intertwined on an Earth far different from their own.
Without warning, the world comes to an end for Hannah and Amanda Given. The sky looms frigid white. The electricity falters. Airplanes everywhere crash to the ground. But the Givens are saved by mysterious strangers, three fearsome and beautiful beings who force a plain silver bracelet onto each sister’s wrist. Within moments, the sky comes down in a crushing sheet of light and everything around them is gone.
Shielded from the devastation by their silver adornments, the Givens suddenly find themselves elsewhere, a strange new Earth where restaurants move through the air like flying saucers and the fabric of time is manipulated by common household appliances.
Soon Hannah and Amanda are joined by four other survivors from their world—a mordant cartoonist, a shy teenage girl, a brilliant young Australian, and a troubled ex-prodigy. Hunted by enemies they never knew they had and afflicted with temporal abilities they never wanted, the sisters and their companions begin a cross-country journey to find the one man who can save them—before time runs out.
Brilliantly imagined and electrifying from the first page, The Flight of the Silvers is the thrilling first book in a genre-bending new series.
