Diabolical, amazing, intriguing, mesmerizing, scary and
disturbing. Did I get your attention yet? Well if you want
to read an incredibly addictive mystery-thriller-crime story
look no further than MERCY by BJ Daniels. Never heard of
Daniels? After reading MERCY, BJ Daniels will absolutely
move
to the top of your list of must read authors. Daniels has
constructed a maze of clues that is continually skirting
adding to your already pretty long list of suspects. In fact
there really isn't anyone that can be excluded from the pact
of questionable characters.
Usually there are several people that stand out as guilty as
sin. In MERCY everyone looks guilty.
What starts out as a seemingly innocent interest in a cold
case quickly escalates into what might be an ongoing series
of murders. Extremely disturbing violent murders. The big
question is just what kind of monster has been unleashed and
candidly how many victims are there. The main players are
Laura Fuller and Rourke Kincaid former partners in the
Seattle Police Department. Laura injured in the line of duty
is now a profiler. Rourke is a U.S. Marshall. Rourke's
interest is peaked in a random search through cold case
files. For some reason he becomes fascinated by someone who
appears in several photos taken at seemingly random crime
scenes. At first glance Rourke and Fuller seem to once again
work together to hopefully solve this cold case. BJ Daniel's
deftly reminds us not to take anything for granted.
If you read the reviews on books by BJ Daniels you might be
tempted to classify her as a western romance suspense writer
which would certainly be accurate to a point. Do not expect
MERCY to fit this description. It takes place in the west
and is suspenseful but MERCY rises to an entirely different
level. I think it is fair to consider that MERCY is BJ
Daniels masterpiece. It is that good and that nasty. Daniels
has written a book packed full of scenes that will truly
grab you by the throat and leave you speechless. It is safe
to say that page after page the reader is treated to still
another piece in what is a very disturbing creepy puzzle.
And yet you will not be able to put MERCY down.
As a reviewer I am always cautioned against divulging plots
lines
and I always try to follow that rule. Reviewing MERCY was a
treat. My synopsis of MERCY is intentionally vague. With
this winning crime story Daniels has succeeded in joining
the ranks of mystery masters. MERCY is my number one
recommendation for your summer reading wish list. This is
one you don't want to miss and take your time reading this
gem for each page is filled with details you need to see if
you can figure out this amazing whodunit.
