AN AMISH MIRACLE is a collection of novellas by some of the
very best
Amish authors today; Beth Wiseman, Ruth Reid, and Mary
Ellis.
Always in my Heart by Mary Ellis introduces you to Hope
Bowman.
She has just given birth to her fourth child, another
daughter. Seriously?
Another daughter? While Hope is happy and grateful that her
daughter
Faith was born happy and healthy she was hoping for a son.
She struggles
with this because when she was a teenager, she was attacked.
She got
pregnant but her father made her give her baby up. She
would be looked
down upon in the Amish community. Her baby was a boy and
now she
feels God is punishing her for walking away from him. What
should she
do? Will she ever see her son again?
Always His Provision by Ruth Reid is the heart felt story of
Hope's
friend Rosa. She is a widow who sells eggs to try to
support herself. When
she receives a letter from the county that her taxes are
behind, she
struggles with the fact that she is going to lose her house
and land. Her
neighbor, Adam has been helping her out, but she is at the
end of her rope
after her other neighbor's dog gets to some of her chickens
and threatens
her only source of income. Tate, the neighbor, has no
disregard for what
his dog is doing and Rosa is stumped as to what to do. One
night, she is
out of her mind with worry for her chickens that when the
dog comes
around she shoots him. Tate wants her to pay the vet bill
or he will sue her
and take her farm. Rosa's faith is tested once again and
decides to pray
for a miracle. Adam will be there for her in more ways than
one he tells
her, but she only sees him as a good friend and the brother
she never had.
Now the fun begins.
Always Beautiful by Beth Wiseman is a wonderful story of
hope and
love. Becky Byler is over weight and at eighteen she is the
biggest woman
in the Amish community. After listening to the others
whisper about her and
her size she asks God for a miracle to make her skinny. In
just several
months, Becky sees her prayers answered and food is no
longer an
obsession with her. She loves how she looks, but does she
like the
person she has become? Has the man she has dreamed of been
right
beside her all along, loving her exactly as she is? Has
Becky changed so
much that no one likes her anymore? Has her life changed for
the better?
All three of the stories in AN AMISH MIRACLE are wonderfully
written and
beautifully flowing into one another and I can't wait to go
back and read
"An Amish Gathering", "An Amish Christmas", "An Amish Love",
"An Amish
Wedding", "An Amish Kitchen" and the upcoming "An Amish
Garden". It is
amazing that these three authors were able to weave together
a story that
felt like one voice. Each story presents a situation that
any one of us could
face. The authors weave a believable plot that results in a
solution involving
their faith. If you love reading inspirational stories I
would highly
recommend AN AMISH MIRACLE.
Hope Bowman believes God is punishing her for giving up
her firstborn son when she was a teenager. She's hidden this
past from her husband, who is thankful for their daughters
but longs for a son. Hope prays desperately, but the son God
sends isn't a new pregnancy. It's the
fifteen–year–old boy she gave away years ago.
"Always His Providence" by Ruth Reid
Widow Rosa Hostetler has one month to pay her delinquent
taxes before the county auctions her farm. She's prepared to
sell whatever is necessary to pay the lien, but she isn't
willing to request money from the community's widow fund.
She's embarrassed and refuses to admit she needs help. Rosa
depends on income from selling eggs, but when that income is
threatened, only a miracle can help Rosa accept the kindness
of a neighbor.
"Always Beautiful" by Beth Wiseman
Becky Byler is eighteen and obese. As she continues to
grow, so does her despair. Having lost all hope, she
considers taking her life, even though it goes against her
beliefs. Standing before rushing water, unable to swim,
Becky begs God for a miracle. Two months pass and Becky has
miraculously lost over a hundred pounds. But does Becky like
the person she has become? Could it be this weight loss
isn't at all the miracle she thinks it is?
