READY TO WERE reviewed by Annetta Sweetko
In READY TO WERE Essie McGee, agent for the Chicago Werewolf
Treaty Federation (WTF) is going back to her childhood home
of Hung Island, Georgia. It's her duty but it's the last
thing she wants to do ... not because it is a bad place but
because Hank is there. A year ago Essie had walked out of
Hank Wilson's life. Disappearing in the middle of the night
and now she is returning, but only a few know the real
reason, everyone thinks she is back with the pack and back
with Hank. The alpha leader and sheriff knows she is there
to investigate the abduction of Were women from the area.
Little does Essie know that Hank has no plans on letting her
go this time. Not without a damn good explanation for
leaving in the first place. After coming face to face with
the sexy Were leader she isn't sure she can keep her mind on
her job and off of him. But women's lives are at jeopardy
... they will just have to put their problems aside. Duty
first ... not a problem.
READY TO WERE is fantastic. Author Robyn Peterman hits all
kinds of buttons in this too short story. I was laughing at
the antics of Essie's best friend the gay vampyre Dwayne and
more so when he meets up with her ex-stripper, sassy
grandmother. Hank of course is a hunk, with typical high
handed attitude and Essie's a gorgeous, sexy Were who is
well trained for her job and proves it with a couple of
interesting tests. In the middle of the investigation, the
truth comes out of why she felt she had to leave him, you
will want to cry with her and back her up if she wants to
seek revenge. I will let readers know that the truth does
lead to some very sizzling moments that please a number of
people. This is my first book by Ms. Peterman and I am now
hooked and can't wait to see what else she has out there in
the paranormal genre.
ALL HUNG UP reviewd by Dot Dittman
Their love is like an island...
ALL HUNG UP is Kathleen Brooks' contribution to the
trio of
stories that make up: Three Southern Beaches: A Summer Beach
Read Box Set.
Followers of Kathleen Brooks' Bluegrass and Bluegrass
Brothers series will enjoy a sneak peek into the future of
the inhabitants of Keeneston, Kentucky, as well as an
introduction to delightful new
characters.
The novella, All Hung Up takes place on Hung Island, a
fictional resort along the coast of Georgia. It's a
beautiful backdrop for love and adventure--complete with a
history of pirates and buried treasure.
Kathleen Brooks is adept at creating characters that are
both charming and flawed. In All Hung Up, she combines
characters from previous books: Trey Everett from Bluegrass
State of Mind and Taylor Jeffries from Secrets Collide.
Theirs is the unlikely match up of an NFL player from a
small town and an Academy Award winning actress from the big
city. Ms. Brooks portrays their loving relationship like an
island in the midst of a swirling sea of chaos of their
daily lives.
But this is more than a funny, romantic story. Suspense and
danger are very tangible elements as both Taylor Jeffries'
career and private life are threatened. Are the series of
catastrophes really accidents? Who could be behind them? Ms.
Turner keeps us guessing everything right up until the
conclusion.
With more than a hint of humor, the author gives us a cast
of supporting characters who are: the narcissistic leading
man, the camera-hogging leading lady, romantic football
players with their ideas about the perfect marriage
proposal, a bodyguard so beautiful that it seems she needs a
bodyguard of her own (she doesn't), Taylor's greedy and
controlling parents, and a crazy stalker fan, among others.
In addition to these new characters, there are cameos of the
hometown folks: all the sexy Davies brothers, their
beautiful talented wives, their adorable precocious
children, and the irrepressible Rose sisters. If there is
anything negative I can say about this book, it is that
there is not enough about the Rose sisters; I adore them!
Fans of romantic suspense not already familiar with Kathleen
Brooks' work, will want to read this novella as well as the
rest of the two Bluegrass series.
As for myself, I look forward to reading Kathleen Brooks'
new Women of Power series in which the first book, CHOSEN
FOR
POWER is now available.

Ready to Were A Paranormal Romance by Robyn PetermanI never planned on going back to Hung Island, Georgia.
Ever.
I was a top notch Were agent for the secret paranormal
Council and happily living in Chicago where I had everything
I needed - a gym membership, season tickets to the Cubs and
Dwayne - my gay, Vampyre best friend. Going back now would
mean facing the reason I'd left and I'd rather chew my own
paw off than deal with Hank.
Hank the Tank Wilson was the six foot three, obnoxious,
egotistical, perfect-assed, best-sex-of-my-life, Werewolf
who cheated on me and broke my heart. At the time, I did
what any rational woman would do. I left in the middle of
the night with a suitcase, big plans and enough money for a
one-way bus ticket to freedom. I vowed to never return.
But here I am, trying to wrap my head around what has
happened to some missing Weres without wrapping my body
around Hank. I hope I don't have to eat my words and my paw.
