President Peter Matthews was introduced in The Night is
Mine as the childhood best friend of Captain Emily Beale
and a man whose very life was in danger due to the actions
of some of those closest to him. As a widower and sitting
president of the United States, dating is not Peter's top
priority but meeting Kim-Ly Geneviève "Genny" Beauchamp
changes everything.
Genny, UNESCO World Heritage Chief of Unit for Southeast
Asia, caught his attention when she hijacked a meeting of
the United Nations in an attempt to convince him to lend
support for the protection of World Heritage sites in South
East Asia. Intrigued by this beautiful and passionate woman,
Peter has invited her to be his guest at the White House
tree lighting ceremony. As they get to know each other while
the world watches, and their affection and attraction
deepen, tensions erupt across the globe that threaten all
they hold dear.
PETER'S CHRISTMAS continues M. L. Buchman's tradition of
offering readers Nightstalker novellas that tell the stories
of the powerful civilians that surround the men and woman of
SOARS. Peter has made an appearance in a number of books in
the Nightstalker series so it was a treat to see him fall in
love with a woman of integrity who would love him in return
and honor to role of first lady. Peter and Genny's
relationship is characterized by an intriguing mix of
caution, intelligence, humor, and passion. Their personal
histories, families, and friends add depth to the story and
help make it clear that Peter and Genny belong together.
The combination of the emotional tension created by dating
the President and the dangers introduced as the result of a
potential world crisis kept me reading late into the night.
Though this is a Christmas story, PETER'S CHRISTMAS will
please Nightstalker fans any day of the year.
