Fresh Fiction Review

Needing Her
Molly McAdams

Every time I read a book by Molly McAdams she rips my heart out. It was exactly that way when I devoured NEEDING HER. Once I started reading, I knew nothing was going to get done, until I finished this book. Molly has a way of stomping on your heart over and over again and making you cry ugly as you get consumed in the characters lives.

NEEDING HER is the story of Maci Price. She has four older brothers and has always hidden all of her relationships from them because they are over protective and really, pains in the butt. When she starts to develop a deeper relationship with her neighbor next door, Conner Green, she hides it from her brothers, of course. Oh, two of them, Dakota and Dylan are Conner's best friends. When they find out, it won't be pretty. Maci has been in love with Conner most of her life but she never acted on it since her brothers were his friends and would never let them be together if they knew.

Conner grew up in a very abusive home. Connor is terrified that he will become just like the man that abused him. His fear consumes him and he struggles everyday with nightmares. He is very protective of his older sister, Amy, who it turns out, took most of the beatings for him so as to protect him. Once Conner was old enough to realize what was going on, he made sure Amy was the one being protected. He is struggling with the fact that one day he could hurt Maci if he turns into his step father. Maci doesn't know anything about this part of his life and he is afraid once he tells her she will leave him.

I love all of Molly's books and NEEDING HER is a fantastic read. I was immediately hooked on Conner and Maci and the way they were friends first and grew to be so much more. The pranks these two pull on each other is laugh out loud funny and the bickering back and forth is hysterical. I can't gush enough about NEEDING HER. Molly McAdams has a way of getting into your head as well as your heart and every time I start one of her books, I always have a box of tissues very close by.

SUMMARY

Maci Price has spent her adult life hiding relationships from her four older brothers. But the convenience of a no-strings-attached hook-up becomes less appealing when the guy’s only concern is himself. Set on finding Maci a man that will take care of her, her friend begins pushing the idea of Maci’s neighbor - her brothers’ best friend, Connor. Connor Green has known what he wanted to do with his life since he was young. Other than becoming a detective, not much else mattered until an unsuspecting girl came back to town and shook up his world. But she belonged to someone else and he’s spent months trying to find himself again after losing her. When Maci starts up old pranks to get Connor out of his brooding state, an all-out war ensues that leads to a night neither can forget but are forced to ignore. Together they’re electric. Apart they’re safe. And soon they’ll find they’re exactly what the other needs.
