It's only 7 days until Big Creek Days, a celebration of food which includes a much awaited rodeo. Paisley Archer organizes things from the bull riding events to the concessions stands, assuring a successful celebration. Paisley Weston's estranged husband, Matt, has gained fame as a professional bull rider and follows the high circuit. Paisley has had enough after his desertion of two years and is completely caught off guard when he shows up on her doorstep without notice. Paisley still lives in their house with the hound dog, Tilla (nicknamed Sweet Tea ).
Watching over Matt's father, Joe, they both have had their hearts broken because Matt chose as his first love rodeo and bull riding and his family as second. The death of a rider changed Paisley's mind at continuing to follow Matt in pro bull riding. Joe is devastated at his son's desertion but hides his sorrow in drink. The three of them were originally planning to operate their own rodeo stock contracting operation in Texas. Still in love with him, Paisley is convinced that to survive she needs to acquire a divorce and move on with her original plan with Joe. Trying to convince his wife to go on the road with him to finish his championship and contract, she shows him the door and demands his signature on the divorce papers. Matt leaves for his tour but he still has some surprise angles yet to try in winning back his wife and acceptance from his father.
This is a short story filled with the trials and tribulations of a man of choosing his professional career and love of the rodeo over the love for his wife and father. Heartfelt dreams and wants are weighed by this couple, and sacrifices must be made. The author composes a tale of the life and hardships of a championship rodeo cowboy and the things he must give up for his success. YOU, ME, AND SWEET TEA is a very fast read and one that you will enjoy.
