Lawrence "Law" Beaumont moved to Chandlerville and
asked for help from his estranged brother, Dan. Having
served time in prison, he moved his family there as a new
beginning. Libby, his now ex-wife and daughter Chloe, a
third grader, live in their home, while Law works non-stop
at the McC's bar as bartender to provide enough for his
daughter. Dan and his family live on the trendy side of
town on Mimosa Lane, while Law is on the opposite. With
demanding and selfish parents, both men have cut ties with
their parents to go their own ways. Dan is a successful
attorney and both men struggle with the distance their
parents have caused between them.
Law is besotted with Chandler Grade School's AP
Kristen Hemmings. After being asked to coach the school's
soccer team and help a foster child become part of the
community, Law accepts partially to bring the joy of soccer
back to his daughter. Fin Robinson is on his last foster
home with Joe & Marsha Dixon as he has a history of
constant trouble and continually running away. Next will
be a group home and the loss of a chance for a real family
to love him. Becoming involved with Kristen and trying to
help Fin, Law and Chloe are having severe problems dealing
with an alcoholic and demanding Libby, making Law's life
hell and Chloe's confusing and unhappy. Libby's public
confrontations with Law are soon out of whack and Law is
forced to take action. When the full truth comes out, the
most important thing to Law and Kristen is having Chloe and
Fin back after they have run away following the most recent
tirade at the Valentine's party by her mother. All Law
wants is to provide a loving and stable life for his
daughter along with Kristin and have a place to belong to
again.
LOVE ON MIMOSA LANE is a heartwarming tale of a very
dysfunctional
family with a history of alcoholism. My heart went out to
the sad little girl ripped apart by her parents and feeling
unloved and confused. Fin also stole my heart. A child in
foster care who is thrown from one home to another is
vividly portrayed throughout this story for his search for
real and lasting love. I have never had the pleasure of
reading any works from Anna DeStefano, but I was thoroughly
impressed at the ingenious way she revealed the pain of
each character and passed this on to the reader. An
Unforgettable story!
Law Beaumont and Kristen Hemmings have watched each other from a distance for years. But Law, a bartender with a bad- boy past, and Kristen, an assistant principal devoted to helping her community, couldn’t seem more different. When they unite to mentor a young foster child and to help Law’s troubled daughter through the aftermath of her parents’ ugly divorce, their attraction deepens. They face the undeniable connection between them, and a whirlwind of challenges they can only conquer together. A stirring love story and a candid look at the complexities of divorce, substance abuse, and our country’s foster care system, Love on Mimosa Lane is a love song to an entire community, and a novel about the power of family—the family you’ve been given, the one you’ve chosen, and the one that can lift you up, even when the world is tearing you down.
