Kicking off the new Thompson and Sons series, Vivian Arend indulges loyal fans by keeping a similar vibe of her Six Pack Ranch series, but reaching out to new readers with this spin-off series centered around the local garage within the Rocky Mountain House area.
Gage Jenick and Katy Thompson have known each other for their whole lives. But Gage hasn't made a move on her since she's been attached to another man. The minute he learns that she is single again, Gage doesn't waste any time, revealing to her that he has wanted her for forever. As the hot words soon turn into a hot night together, Gage curses himself for the rotten timing of his work that will take him away for six months. He promises to return for Katy though and court her properly like she deserves to be.
However, in a tragic accident that had Katy veering off the road, she suffers from amnesia that has taken away her memories right before the accident. When Gage returns, hoping to pick things up where he left off, he is surprised to learn that Katy doesn't remember their night together. And worse, he learns that she is pregnant, but doesn't know who the father is.
Arend creates a unique and complex conflict for this storyline that definitely intrigues and excites. However, at only 177 pages long, the progression of events, as well as the romance, felt rushed. Gage returning marks a huge shift in the dynamics of their relationship. Katy isn't who she used to be anymore. But Gage isn't willing to give up yet.
One thing Arend excels at is dialogue. Refreshingly fun and upbeat, seeing all the characters interacting and giving each other a hard time is so entertaining to watch. It creates wonderful anticipation for the next book in the series.
BABY, BE MINE combines the taste of sweet and sexy, resulting in an irresistible treat for Contemporary Romance fans!
