Romance
What's better than one romance written by Lori Wilde --
simple - two and in HAPPILY EVER AFTER Lori Wilde treats us
to two lovely engaging stories about what she seems to know
best -- love. Love in all fashions. Personally I'm wild
about Wilde's style of writing contemporary love stories.
She shows time and again that love comes in all types and
ages. You are never too old to fall in love and Lori Wilde
is just an old fashioned romantic.
The title seems peculiar considering that the stories
revolve around some relationships that don't necessarily
seem to have happy endings -- or should I say not
immediately evident happy endings. But you know love is
certainly not simple -- it takes work and diligence and of
course lots of passion. Well all of that abounds in this
book by Lori Wilde.
Images are an intrinsic portion of reading and nobody
provides better literary images than Wilde. She grabs your
attention rather immediately and holds on while she leads
you and her characters on a merry chase. Her tool is her
witty dialog which paints a picture that is sure to
entertain.
Addicted To Love centers on the story of Rachael and Brody
who have both been burned by love. Rachael is a great
believer in romance having been brought up in a town called
Valentine which is inundated with symbols of hearts and
flowers. Rachael has had the misfortune of being left at
the altar a couple of times and is faced with the reality
that perhaps she needs some intervention to cure her of the
affliction of being a hopeful romantic. But romance is in
her soul. Rachael's problem isn't really love it's thinking
she has found her soul mate. Her disappointment is
compounded with her inability to feel really deeply. Trying
to learn how to be with a man without falling for him is
going to be a great challenge.
Brody has also been burned. After returning from a tour of
duty in Iraq his injuries are too much for his fiancé to
accept. Brody views himself as the antithesis of romantic.
And yet he can't help being drawn into Rachael's world.
There is just something about her that has him wishing for
his own happy ending. For an unromantic Brody seemed to
have a truly passionate soul. All this is awakened by his
deepening relationship with Rachael.
Perhaps the most interesting relationship in this story may
not actually be that of Rachael and Brody. There is an
amazing supporting cast of characters whose stories are
even more endearing.
All Of Me is the second story also somewhat centering on
that magical antique wedding veil but so much more. In this
tale we are also treated to some Native American folklore
and needless to say hunks. Could a romance get any better
than this? Jillian and Tucker have lots in common even if neither is
willing to accept that. All they really will acknowledge is
a sparking attraction that has the two of them spending
most of their time trying to get out of each other's way.
Neither is willing to get involved. Tucker still can't get
on with this life after the death of his young wife two
years ago. His life is stagnant. Jillian heads off to
Salvation to find a new life having been burned and hurt
beyond belief. Her life was adrift. Somehow these two souls
had found their way to Salvation to a little cabin off the
lake.
It was going to take some work for these two to find what
they both needed in their lives. Two smarter more stubborn
people you will never meet. Luckily fate had played a hand
and provided the open door, the opportunity for these two
to meet. The rest was up to them.
Jillian is the last of the four friends to see their future
while donning that wedding veil. She was also the most
cynical of the group. Watching Jillian finally find someone
to call her own, who would not just turn their back on her
is what propels you from page to page in this wonderful
story.
Love is grand and few do it as well as Lori Wilde. I loved
Addicted to Love but I adored All Of Me.
Addicted To Love & All of Me were originally released as
part of the Wedding Veil Wishers series. Now they are
combined into an absolutely lovely page turned filled with
love and laughs. If you missed these two as singles here's
an opportunity to get two for the price of one In HAPPILY
EVER AFTER.
