Fantasy Urban

Risa Jones has a number of beings who are not happy with her. Everyone who is after the keys to hell is angry and to be honest she's not too happy either. Her world has become DARKNESS SPLINTERED and all she wants to do is forget the everything around her. She has the revenge against her mother's death that she desired but she got neither the satisfaction nor the peace she thought would come from that action.

When her father threatens the life of one of her friends she has no choice but to ask for her lover, Azriel's help to continue the search for the keys. This is one of the hardest things she has had to do because she had banished him from her life. In the process of saving her life he changed her forever into what he is. A dark angel. When she dies, she will not be reborn to another life on earth, but will join him in the gray fields guarding the gates to heaven and hell.

Time is ticking ... between her Aedh father and vampire Madeline Hunter, who she is seriously thinking is crazy; her life is out of control. With her friends in jeopardy, worry about her own child and trying to stop the chaos the world could become with the gates of hell wide open, Risa knows she cannot do this alone and turns to those she can trust.

DARKNESS SPLINTERED is the darkly frightening, action packed sequel of author Keri Arthur's Dark Angels series. The suspense and mystery will keep you glued to the book, unable to put it down, while the magic and some of the mystical beings will make you want to hide. My small complaint is that I believe Azriel might have been forgiven too quickly and forgave her too easily but a lot of truth comes out in a few short pages that I think will be a relief for those rooting for them both.

Without using spoilers I will admit I was glad to see one of the antagonists finally be removed from the storyline and cannot wait to see how the next book will wrap up all the lives and loves we have come to know. I will be sad to see the end of this series but I cannot wait to get my hands on that book.

SUMMARY

New York Times bestselling author Keri Arthur continues her Dark Angels series as half-werewolf, half-Aedh Risa Jones races to save the world from descending into ultimate chaos.... Risa has angered several powerful people, and she’s starting to feel the pressure from all sides. She also finds herself under the scrutiny of the vampire council, some of whom consider her a monster who should be destroyed. But they offer her a bloody bargain: Take on the lethal head of the council and others will support her.

As the search for the keys to hell heats up, Risa realizes that she has no choice. For the sake of the people she loves, she must find the keys—and get rid of Hunter—before the next gate is opened and brings the world closer to all hell breaking loose....
