ARCHANGEL'S LEGION starts off with Elena and Raphael
settling back in New York and resuming their roles after
recuperating from the past events. At the same time Cascade
is taking place all over the world. With every Cascade in
the past giving new powers to the archangels and bringing
about war, casualties and unexplained occurrences, Elena and
Raphael prepare for the unknown. For all those who remember
the previous Cascades, this one seems the worst one yet.
Alliances are forming and if the rumors are true, various
archangels are gaining terrifying powers over the elements
of the earth.
For Elena, being a hunter is as natural as breathing but the
additional role of being a Consort is taking time to get
used to as she still has a lot to learn but learn, she must,
fast. The power surges are now hitting Raphael's territory.
First one took out a significant amount of his angel force.
While trying to put a lid on that event, they find another
terrifying news that vampires rapidly are dying of a new
unknown disease which, if not contained in time may as well
wipe out their population. In all this Elena worries that
the only ability Raphael gained was negating Lijuan's
abilities while others are getting more powerful. Her fear,
that she may be his weakness in time of war. Then rivers
turn crimson, unnatural storm comes, leaving just as swiftly
as it came, each time calling to Raphael's darkness, giving
him surge of power which he cannot even conceive of
controlling. Elena is the only one who prevents this unknown
from taking Raphael's conscience away. Some powers go away
with the surge while others mark him on the forehead in a
tatoo that is growing each day. Finally an all-out assault
and war enters their territory where they can only hope that
the unknown power is on their side else all will be lost and
the world will never be the same again.
What a smashing chilling addition to the Guild Hunter
series
by Nalini Singh! From beginning to end, it kept me
completely involved in the guessing game and like Elena I
kept hoping that Raphael gains some amazing new powers equal
to those of the other archangels. With each book I see new
insights and growth in all the characters especially Aodhan
who broke my heart. Ms. Singh has written every scene very
intricately and created an air of mystery and thrill which
keeps the reader on the edge of the seat, completely
captivated to what happens next. Her teasing insights on the
characters leave me a bit frustrated... I want to know more
and soon!
The final chapters of ARCHANGEL'S LEGION literally kept me
on the
edge. WOW! They were among one of the most hair-raising
chilling chapters I have yet to read. The suspense, the
thrill and the unraveling of the mystery, the whole scene
gave me goosebumps. I am salivating for the next book in the
series if the tone of this book and the ending is the hint
of what more is to come. Quite simply, I am craving for the
next book. This series and particularly ARCHANGEL'S LEGION
is not to be missed by anyone who loves paranormal, urban
fantasy with a dark tone, whole lot of suspense and action.
