Riley Poe, is a badass tattoo artist, who understands that life is not easy, she has had a number of pitfalls she had to climb out of and she has done just that for the sake of her brother Seth. On top of the normal everyday bad she was attacked by vampires and has inherited a number of new abilities. Needing help with dealing with her vampiric abilities she turned to Eli Dupre, who became her trainer and is now her DARKLOVE.
Eli has been murdered by a fallen angel, but was it real? Riley receives word that he is trapped in an alternate dimension. A place where Riley once was and has no desire to return to the hell on earth that is there, but she will do just that. Before she can find Eli she must deal with a powerful vampire who is killing humans, she must work with WUP (Worldwide Unexplained Phenomenon) group to take down this rogue. She finds there is a startling connection between the slaughter and Eli. Is her lover no longer the vampire she fell in love with? Has he been changed in that dimension?
DARKLOVE is author Elle Jasper's continuing Dark Ink Chronicles. The description and experience of Savannah has you almost feeling the salt air and seeing the moss hanging from the majestic oak trees. It's an area I have a really soft spot for, but Ms. Jasper takes you into the darker side, and after reading this book it is a place I never want to visit.
The cast of characters is alternately gorgeous or ugly and evil; likeable even loveable and others you want to be the one to kick their butts and the love between Eli and Riley is definitely worth reading. I did find at times that the storyline bogged down with either not enough information or too much, and Riley's stubbornness got a bit annoying, but all in all this is an amazing vampire, action, romance.
