Fans of Shannon McKenna's McCloud series have learned to
love geeky, techy,
not-quite-as-tough-and-handsome-as-the-brothers Miles
Davenport. While his contribution to each mission has always
been valuable, it has often been background support. When
he last went on a covert operation, Miles was seriously
injured and exposed to mind and body altering chemicals (see
One Wrong Move). Since then he is physically stronger
and tormented by hypersensitivity to the sights and sounds
around him. He is also haunted by thoughts and dreams of
Lara Kirk, the women they weren't able to save. Convinced
she is still alive, Miles is determined to rescue her with
our without the help of his friends.
Lara Kirk isn't sure how long she has been a prisoner of the
people trying to study her psychic abilities. The man who
visits her in her dreams has helped her survive but she is
running out of hope. When the hot and sexy man of her
dreams bursts in to rescue her she can't believe he is real.
Soon, Miles and Lara are on the run against the psychotic
team of scientists and psychically enhanced operatives who
want her back. Miles is one of them so the McClouds and
friends quickly step in to help keep Miles and Lara safe.
FATAL STRIKE is full of the sexy and suspenseful chills and
thrills we've come to expect from Shannon McKenna. Fans
will appreciate finally getting to see Miles come into
himself as a hero and find his true love. Miles and Lara
are courageous, strong, and smart. The bad guys are
suitably creepy. The McClouds put there enjoyable
overbearing alpha-male stamp on the story. FATAL STRIKE is
an exciting addition to an excellent series.
When Lara Kirk was abducted months ago, Miles Davenport
vowed he'd bring her home. But the mission failed. Miles has
become totally obsessed; he can practically hear Lara
pleading for him to save her. Finding her after all this
time will be next to impossible. . .
Lara Kirk lives in a shadowy world where reality and fantasy
are one. Her captors have poisoned her body with concoctions
that enhance psychic abilities—and they seem to be working.
To escape, Lara has formed a deep attachment with a man
whose virile, sensual presence in her mind is her only
comfort. She's not even sure if he's real—until the
six-foot-five-inch powerhouse bursts in to rescue her. . .
Once freed, Lara has no choice but to trust Miles with her
life as they run from enemies too twisted to imagine. But
they're also fighting a dangerous attraction that could
kill—or save—them both. Either way, it's going to be a hell
of a ride. . .
