Amanda Delmar has no problem spending money, especially
when it isn't hers. What's $500 for shoes if Daddy's always
there to pay for it? On a lark, Amanda decides to spend her
summer away from the nightlife of Chicago and rents a
haunted house in Cuttersville, Ohio. One thousand dollars
for rent is a steal, especially when she doesn't have to
foot the bill. Everything is going fine (although there are
no good places to shop in the middle of nowhere) until
Daddy has had enough of his daughter's ridiculous spending
habits and decides to cut off all her accounts to teach her
a lesson. No one in the family is to loan Amanda money or
even help her get a job. What's a pouty, spoiled rotten
brat supposed to do?
Life has had its ups and downs for farmer Danny Tucker. At
the ripe old age of 26, he's already been married (because
of a pregnancy) and divorced (because of a miscarriage that
neither parent ever got over). All he ever wanted was a
wife and children to call his own. Living on the farm has
gotten pretty lonely and the only person in town who's
remotely piqued his interest is Amanda -- not that she'd
ever give him the time of day.
Things are about to change drastically when Danny's prayers
are answered in the form of an eight-year-old daughter he
never knew he had conceived during a high-school fling.
Piper Schwartz is dumped on Danny's doorstep by her
stepfather, who no longer wants her since Piper's mother
died. Underfed and caked in dirt, Piper has been
emotionally abused to the point where all of her hair has
fallen out. Danny rises to the challenge and takes his
daughter in without question, determined to give her the
love she so desperately needs. However, Danny knows nothing
about raising little girls and enlists Amanda's help in
buying the things she needs. If there's one thing Amanda is
good at, it's shopping!
As Piper warms up to Amanda, Danny realizes that it's a win-
win-win situation; he can hire Amanda as a babysitter so
that she finally has a job, and Piper doesn't have to go to
daycare with strangers, while Danny can finish this year's
harvest on the farm. That, and he can ogle Amanda's long,
bronzed legs... Could this heiress ever find a country
bumpkin attractive and maybe, just maybe, fall in love with
him, too?
Although at first, Amanda seems to be a mirror image of
Paris Hilton on The Simple Life, she manages to
recognize that she's spoiled and has no job skills once
she's been dumped into the real world. Instead of sitting
around and whining about it, Amanda takes the challenge to
prove to herself and her father that she isn't the pretty
princess everyone seems to think she is. HEIRESS FOR HIRE
is charged with a sexual energy so intense that it sparks
right off the page making for an enjoyable reading
experience.
Chicago socialite Amanda Delmar thought spending the summer
in Cuttersville - Ohio's most haunted town - would be a
hoot, until dear old-Dad cut her off. Now Amanda has to do
the unthinkable and get...A JOB. Her attempts at joining
the job market would crack up farmer Danny Tucker, if he
weren't so turned on by the skinny, bronzed blonde. Hiring
Amanda to babysit his baby girl may not be the smartest
thing Danny has ever done. But seeing how she and her
couture-clad poodle bring a smile to his shy daughter's
face makes it all worthwhile. Now all Danny has to figure
out is how to keep Amanda at arm's length, when she has
already wriggled her way into his heart.
