Evie Stryker has just been moved back to Fool's Gold by her well-meaning brothers after she broke her leg and could not continue as an NFL Cheerleader. She is teaching dance and really enjoying her students. When she arrives at the dance studio two months after she started, she finds a note saying that the head teacher has eloped with her boyfriend and the Christmas Eve production of "The Dance of the Winter King" is all hers to choreograph and produce. Evie has never even seen the production. Can she pull this off in less than two months?
Dante Jefferson is also new in town and has a law office just below Evie's dance studio. He can't stand the stomping and pounding music when he is trying to work. He heads up the stairs to chew Evie out, but he cannot find the words when he lays eyes on such a beautiful creature. Evie and Dante strike up a friendship and both make it very clear that they are not looking for a relationship, just some fun times together to make it through the painful memories of their past Christmas holidays. However, Evie begins to have a deep down stirring for something more. Where will this leave her with Dante?
Susan Mallery gives us another wonderful story from her Fool's Gold Series. It is always fun to revisit this magical town and catch up on what has been happening in the past characters' lives. Festivals, volunteering, giving back to the community and helping each other are themes that run through all of the Fool's Gold stories. A FOOL'S GOLD CHRISTMAS is no different. Evie is overwhelmed at what is expected of her, but she learns that she can count on the townspeople to see her through. She and Dante are both strong characters who are looking for direction in their lives. Humor and sarcasm in the dialogue give a lift to a story that has several complicated relationships. It's a story about letting go of past hurts, past rejections and letting yourself heal. This story can stand alone, but all of this series is worth the investment. Enjoy it!
