TABLE FOR SEVEN by Whitney Gaskell is about a group of friends who, on New Years Eve, decide to start a monthly dinner club.  The story takes place over one year and the beginning of each chapter lists the menu for the club meal.  Fran and Will Parrish are hosting the meal where they decide to make it a monthly dinner party.  There are two couples and three single friends who make up the club.  Fran and Will have been married for just under twenty years and have two kids.  The second couple is Jaime and Mark. Jaime is Mark's  second wife and they have three children. Emily is Mark's daughter from his first marriage to Libby.  The singles are Audrey, Cooper, and Leland. Fran and Will are having problems.  She isn't happy and feels neglected.   Jaime and Mark have had many a fight over Emily and how much say so Libby has in their lives.  Emily is obsessed with tennis and Mark is too.  It is taking over their lives and Jaime takes notice that Mark spends so much more time with Emily than he does with his other two kids.  Leland is a retired  judge and likes to give advice to his friends at their monthly dinners.   Audrey is recently widowed and not looking to complicate her life with a man. That is until she meets Cooper.  She thinks Coop is full of himself and a womanizer.  Now things are going to get really interesting for these two but I'm not telling you what happens. You have to read TABLE FOR SEVEN yourself to find out. I really loved TABLE FOR SEVEN.  IT was a quick read and flowed perfectly.  I was never confused by all the different characters as everyone had different things going on in their lives.  All the characters really come together and you can't help but getting caught up in their lives.  TABLE FOR SEVEN made me hungry and I loved the menu ideas Whitney gave me while reading.  The only thing missing were the recipes.  If you are like me you will laugh and you will cry while reading TABLE FOR SEVEN.

SUMMARY

A warm and witty novel about friendship, fine dining, and learning that life doesn’t always turn out quite how we expect it to—perfect for fans of Barbara O’Neal and Nancy Thayer On New Year’s Eve, Fran and Will Parrish host a dinner party, serving their friends a gourmet feast. The night is such a success that the group decides to form a monthly dinner party club. But what starts as an excuse to enjoy the company of fellow foodies ends up having lasting repercussions on each member of the Table for Seven Dinner Party Club. Fran and Will face the possibility that their comfortable marriage may not be as infallible as they once thought. Audrey has to figure out how to move on and start a new life after the untimely death of her young husband. Perfectionist Jaime suspects that her husband, Mark, might be having an affair. Coop, a flirtatious bachelor who never commits to a third date, is blindsided when he falls in love for the first time. Leland, a widower, is a wise counselor and firm believer that bacon makes everything taste better. Over the course of a year, against a backdrop of mouthwatering meals, relationships are forged, marriages are tested, and the members of the Table for Seven Dinner Party Club find their lives forever changed.
