THE PARIS ASSIGNMENT by Addison Fox is intriguing,
suspenseful and a thrill ride. Right now Campbell Steele is
not thrilled with his younger sister Kensington for
dropping this very last minute assignment on him. He tells
her to either get his older brother Liam or the youngest
Steele sibling Rowan to do it. Kensington explains they are
all on other assignments for The house of Steele, and that
he is the only one available, and also the best choice
because of his computer background and skills. He resigns
himself to the fact that he is leaving the next night for
Paris and accompanying Abigail McBane as her bodyguard and
computer guru.
Abigail McBane CEO of McBane Communications is still
seconding guessing her decision about calling her close
friend and old college roommate Kensington Steele for help.
Recently she had a computer breach of seven minutes at her
company. She keeps trying to tell herself it is nothing,
but she knows better. Kensington assures Abby that calling
her for help was the best thing she could do. Her assistant
Stef , lets her know that her next appointment is there and
that it is Campbell Steele. When Campbell walks in she is
taken by surprise at how tall and gorgeous he is. The more
she talks to him she discovers that underneath all the sexy
exterior is a brilliant mind. That just makes him even more
irresistible. She keeps the meeting professional and
explains that the next evening she is to leave for a week
in Paris for meetings a with her board members and that she
will doing most of entertaining and meetings at her home.
They have to come up with a reason that will appease her
board members as to why Campbell is staying at her home and
attending all the events and meeting with her. They come up
with that he is her new boyfriend. They start the charade
that night when Campbell accompanies Abby to charity event.
Afterwards he talks her into a nightcap at one of his
favorite bars. They sit by the large window and snuggle to
make it look good that they are a couple. What they don't
expect is the window to explode with gun fire. Both of them
give chase, but neither one is able to catch the guy in
Central Park. They take a taxi back to her street and walk
back to her brownstone and avoid talking with the police.
Again he is trying to convince her to cancel her meeting
for her safety, but she will not do it. He stays at her
house for the night and continues to run codes to find
where the breach came from. Paris is where the real action
starts and Campbell is able to get to know her board
members and start trying to figure out who could be behind
the breach. This is also where their relationship takes a
turn to the bedroom.
THE PARIS ASSIGNMENT is full of tech lingo that I sometimes
had a hard time following, but it never took away from the
story. I actually learned something's that I never knew.
Ms. Fox again wrote a wonderfully suspenseful, intriguing
and sexy story. The chemistry between Campbell and Abby is
hot. Her writing style is one of my favorites and the
stories never disappoint. I recommend this story if you are
a fan of Ms. Fox or if you are looking for a new author.
"I didn't hire you to be my bodyguard." It was obviously an inside job—and security expert Campbell Steele figured he'd have to get very close to his new client, CEO Abigail McBane, to uncover the traitor. But when an electronic blip led to a bullet, he had to move fast…. Suddenly the commitment-shy expert is posing as Abby's lover and jetting off to a conference in Paris. The city of lovers should be the perfect cover to trap the enemy. As the stakes keep rising, they soon realize it isn't just her company the traitor wants, but Abby herself. And Campbell isn't about to lose what he's claimed as his own
