Falcon Securities is an agency that works exclusively for the President of the United States and the Department of Defense. Agent John "Mac" McKinsey is in Russia when a mission goes sour and all he wants is to get out of there safely. He certainly isn't thrilled when his boss Frank Hamilton tells him the evacuation plan. He has a strange feeling he is never going to be OUT OF THE DARK again.
Emily Richards is their attorney who just happens to be in Russia as a mediator and all she wants is to be done with this job and go on a long needed vacation with her best friend. But when Mac breaks into her hotel room and their boss tells her that Mac just needs a ride. She doesn't have to like it; in fact she doesn't at all. He's just too good looking and too tempting. She isn't interested in getting involved with anyone right now.
But when two armed men break into the hotel room that they are waiting in they have no choice but to shoot and run. Emily is furious that her orderly life is in such turmoil and Mac doesn't want another woman's life on his hands. They have to depend on each other as things just keep getting more and more complicated. It seems the bad guys are not only after Mac but also after Emily herself.
OUT OF THE DARK is a thrilling, deeply emotional, highly romantic, suspense filled novel. Emily and Mac make an interesting couple who at first try very hard not to like each other despite the growing attraction. The bickering continues in spurts even after the truth of their situation comes to light and of course when they do finally give in to the attraction it is explosive. The background information for both of them is given to the reader in spurts until you understand them better. I personally cheered when Emily's best friend got into the action in her friend's defense. Author Geri Foster has the start of a fascinating series that I hope goes on for a long time.
