Romance

Mark Valiente is a cop for Los Angeles and a vampire. He and his partner Brodie, who is also an Other, Elven to be exact, are on a stake out after having received an anonymous tip of strange activity at the Hildegard Tomb. They go in and "rescue" Alessande Salisbrooke who is about to become a sacrifice to bring back to life the shape- shifting magician Sebastian Hildegard. They had no way of knowing that they had rescued a future KEEPER OF THE DAWN. Alessande is furious. She had everything under control. She did. She would have easily transported before they had a chance to do her in. She had been there by accident but found it the perfect opportunity to find out what happened to the friend she fears is now in the hands of this cult. It was bad enough to have been "rescued" by the cops but one of them had to be a vampire. She doesn't have much good to say about vamps, but this one is really gorgeous. Then she had a dream or vision and ...wow ... now she finds herself really thinking differently about this irritating vampire. KEEPER OF THE DAWN is another incredible offering by author Heather Graham. The action starts with page one and goes on as you find yourself planning the investigation right along with the combatants soon to be lovers and their friends. The friends are "Keepers" and there is of course a ghost who watches over all of them. You really do feel a part of this adventure and you find yourself being knocked a number of different directions with each step as the Keepers try to rescue someone they believe will be a part of the sacrifice for the cult they are trying to stop. There is not a lot of overt romance but it is fun to watch the couple dance around one another. KEEPER OF THE DAWN is another winner for Ms. Graham and I am already looking forward to the next one.

SUMMARY

In their new Keeper roles, these extraordinary women must balance the fate of the world with their desires.... Alessande Salisbrooke has been warned about the legend of the old Hildegard Tomb-how human sacrifices are being carried out by the followers of a shape-shifting magician. As a Keeper, Alessande understands the risks of investigating, but she can't shake the nagging feeling that the killings are tied to a friend's recent murder, and she can't turn her back. With the help of Mark Valiente, a dangerously sexy vampire cop, Alessande narrowly escapes becoming a sacrifice herself. But as the bodies continue piling up, completely drained of blood, one truth becomes all too clear: life is an illusion, and no one-not even those you care about the most-is who they seem.
