TIME THIEF by Katie MacAlister is a very different story on
time travel or time jumping. The story between Kiya an out
of work with no real skills woman who has been struck by
lightening twice, and Peter the perfect example of a
Watch/Cop that is so focused on his job that he has no idea
how to have fun and loosen up, is fun, sexy and flirty.
Kiya has no idea what she is, that is until the mysterious,
violet eyed, male model Peter comes into her life. Over the
course of a few days he explains to her that she is a
Traveller. That she can take time from others, but make
sure you pay for that time in the form of silver or the
Karma that comes back to you can range from something small
like swollen lips up to and including death.
Peter has a
job to do in the small town of Rose Hill, that does not
include seducing the interesting, beautiful and very
talkative Kiya. There are murderers in his family that he
is investigating that not only include immortal killings
but also mortal killings. Trying to bring members of his
family is not going to be easy. Peter working with the
mortal police is who gave him his biggest break as to who
the murderers could be.
TIME THIEF, I have to guess is like other time traveling
books, that it is all over the place. At least it was only
small amounts of time and not years or days. Also all the
explanation of what a Traveller is and where they originate
from is and not really explained in the story. You have to
read the definition is the back of the book to fully
understand what they are. I did not realize that was there
until I got to the end. When reading TIME THIEF I seemed to be
more interested in the story between Peter and Kiya then on
the Traveller aspect of the story. I would recommend TIME
THIEF as a good read for those that like time traveling
and understand it better than me. Also if you like a good
romance and are a fan of Ms. MacAlisters.
FIRST IN A NEW SERIES FROM THE BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE
DARK ONES NOVELS!
Outcast due to their ability to manipulate time, shunned by
the mortal and immortal worlds alike, a Traveller’s life is
anything but easy.
Peter Faa is a member of the Watch tracking down a murderer,
and unfortunately, all clues seem to point toward his own
estranged family of Travellers. Any of his cousins could be
guilty, but which one? They’re all experts in the art of
stealing time...
After surviving a lightning strike, Kiya Mortenson is
determined to get just one thing in her life right. And if
that means taking a job as nanny to five pugs on a campsite
in the Oregon wilderness, then so be it. It doesn’t hurt
that the job comes with some spectacular male eye candy,
including her new boss’s gorgeous grandson. If only she
didn’t keep having this strange sense of deja vu...
When Peter discovers his own family is stealing time from
Kiya, all bets are off. While she may drive him crazy at
times, it’s clear that it’s not just lightning that’s
creating some serious sparks between them. And he’s not
going to let secrets, lies, or a devious murderer keep Kiya
from where she belongs: at his side.
