"The abduction of what seems like a perfect family only adds more mystery to the terrible crime."

Mystery | Thriller | Suspense

From the outside, the Denbes appear to be the perfect, loving family. Good-looking and affluent Justin, Libby and 15-year-old Ashlyn seem to have it all, until the night they're brutally abducted from their pricey home in an elite neighborhood of Boston. The crime scene is a bit bizarre and clues point to it being someone with insider information. But why take Libby and Ashlyn, when it's apparent Justin, the owner of a multi-million-dollar construction firm, is the one worth the most? And why is no immediate ransom demanded?

Examination of the crime scene involves Boston Det. Sgt. D. D. Warren, as well as Tessa Leoni, Denbe Construction's corporate investigator. When it becomes apparent the Denbes have been taken north into New Hampshire, local county detective Wyatt Foster becomes involved just as the FBI takes over the case. With a shortage of clues, it becomes a frustrating endeavor for everyone involved.

Using alternate chapters revealing Libby's point of view of the slowly disintegrating circumstances of the captives along with the ongoing police investigation makes for a compelling, suspenseful narrative. The eventual conclusion of the situation and the revelation of the mastermind behind the kidnapping plot are stunningly spectacular.

Lisa Gardner's TOUCH & GO is an explosive thriller. Even though some readers may think they know the identity of the evil culprit of the devious kidnapping plot, the gripping path to the final disclosure keeps pages turning at a breakneck pace. I know I could not put TOUCH & GO down until the final page.

SUMMARY

This is my family: Vanished without a trace...

Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life that looks good in the pages of a glossy magazine. A beautiful fifteen–year old daughter, Ashlyn. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree–lined street in Boston's elite Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by friends and family. A perfect life.

This is what I know: Pain has a flavor...

When investigator Tessa Leoni arrives at the crime scene in the Denbes' home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and Taser confetti in the foyer. The family appears to have been abducted, with only a pile of their most personal possessions remaining behind. No witnesses, no ransom demands, no motive. Just an entire family, vanished without a trace.

This is what I fear: The worst is yet to come...

Tessa knows better than anyone that even the most perfect facades can hide the darkest secrets. Now she must race against the clock to uncover the Denbes' innermost dealings, a complex tangle of friendships and betrayal, big business and small sacrifices. Who would want to kidnap such a perfect little family? And how far would such a person be willing to go?

This is the truth: Love, safety, family...it is all touch and go.
