Reagan Summerside's divorce from Hollis has left her with little more than a Victorian in need of a lot of repair and more designer clothes than she'll ever need now that she won't be attending any other social events. She decides to combine her remaining assets into a business and - voila - a consignment shop, the Prissy Fox, is born! Soon, the women of Savannah, Georgia, are bringing in their clothes for consignment, and Reagan's new business is looking like it just might work.
Of course, Reagan's new life can't be totally perfect, though. Just as things are looking up, Hollis' new girlfriend is found dead in the trunk of his Lexus, which Reagan had just borrowed... on the sly. Since Reagan zooms to the top of the suspect list, she is determined to prove herself innocent. But Hollis' attorney, Walker Boone, also wants to solve the mystery but without Reagan's help. Soon, Reagan finds herself in a race against both time and Boone to solve this mystery.
As with many Southern towns, the gossip spreads quickly, and soon just as many women are dropping by the Prissy Fox to share gossip as are to shop or drop off clothing. Reagan decides to capitalise on the newfound source of information, and soon she's got more clues and suspects than she could have dreamt of. Now she just has to leverage this information to solve the mystery, prove her innocence, and turn the Prissy Fox into a successful endeavour.
ICED CHIFFON is a fun, quick read full of delightful characters and intrigue. The mystery is well-written and well-thought out. There is a great balance in suspects in that I was kept guessing, but there weren't so many that I got them confused. Reagan's character was extremely likable - she's an intelligent woman who's in a difficult situation but she keeps adapting and doing what she can to empower herself.
