Jessica Anderson made several trips to the Yucatan as
a child and found herself fascinated with the Mayan myths
and legends. Therefore, when reports came out earlier in
2012 indicating that the world would end on December 21,
21012 at 5am, it fit perfectly with her paranormal series,
The Nightkeepers. Her story portrays the Mayan Calendar
predicting that the Gods from the upper regions and the
Banol Kax of the lower regions would have a great battle;
however, prior to this great battle the Banol Kax want to
destroy the true God's pitiful humans by unleashing a
deadly xombi virus on the human race. This virus is part
magic and part biochemical. It is passed from one human to
human through a single bite. The virus is spreading
worldwide and it is up to the Nightkeepers to not only save
the human race from this deadly disease, but to save the
world from Armageddon.
SPELLFIRE is book eight out of nine novels of the
Nightkeepers by Author Jessica Anderson. Even if you
have
not read books one through seven the author helps you get
up to speed on what is happening within the Nightkeeper
group. The Nightkeepers protect the thin barrier that
protects the earth from the underworld. Most of the
Nightkeepers are magi, but there are also human allies who
also help defend the barrier. The strongest among the magi
is Rabbit along with his love half named Myrinne, who is a
telekinetic human. They all reside at Skywatch Mansion
Southeast of Chaco Canyon. The main gate to the mansion is
locked with wards in order to keep unwelcomed visitors out
including the Banol Kax, the millennium tortured Lords of
the Underworld.
The author, Jessica Anderson has created a vivid world of
demons, a demoness, magi, and Lords of the Underworld.
The story does begin with a torture scene which for some
readers, may be really difficult to read.
Jessica Anderson is a wonderful writer. Her writing is
fluid and detailed. Readers will never be confused from
paragraph to paragraph. Ms Anderson really pays attention
to detail in a very exciting and thought-provoking way.
Even the New Mexico Badlands were brought to vivid life in
my mind. I found this book to be captivating and it truly
was hard to put it down. If you love paranormal thrillers
this is a book I would encourage you to buy. Jessica
Anderson will keep you reading on the edge of your seat.
Imprisoned and tortured by the demoness who tricked him into
betraying the Nightkeepers and the woman he loves, Rabbit
must endure excruciating pain to protect the diminished
Skywatch army as the end-time approaches. Although an
ancient prophecy says his unique powers are key to winning
the final battle in the doomsday war, he hasn’t just lost
his credibility—he’s lost his magic.
Myrinne is far from the woman Rabbit once knew—she’s got
magic now, and despite emotional scars, she’s strong enough
to help the Nightkeepers. And yet she’s not prepared to
handle the fiercely driven man he’s become or the new,
dangerous feelings that spark between them.
With the barrier ready to fall and a xombi outbreak in the
human world, Rabbit and Myrinne must forge a new partnership
amid dangerous instability and the threat of an undead army.
In the end, it will be up to Rabbit to master his ferocious
magic—or all will be lost. For him, for the woman he doesn’t
have the right to love anymore, and for the fate of the world…
