Adam Connelly has always loved the adrenaline rush, it's
what go him in trouble as a kid and made him such a
risk-taker as an army ranger. Adam has led a quieter life
since being discharged from the military after a mission to
rescue a group of British soldiers went bad leaving his unit
devastated and Adam seriously injured. Now Adam and his
trusty yellow lab Milo teach and train search and rescue.
Haunted by nightmares, Adam resists being active in rescue
but he's not one to turn his back on someone in need. First,
it's a 10-year-old hanging from a cliff they stumble upon
while hiking. Then Holly Reid knocks on his door.
Adam was Holly's first love and the man who broke her heart.
Though the attraction is still there, she is turning to him
only for help in finding her missing father. He took off
into the woods on his ATV after a break-up with his
girlfriend and Holly hasn't heard from him since. She's
worried something has happened and needs the best tracker to
help find him so she turns to Adam. Holly thinks she can
keep it strictly business and Adam can't say no to Holly. It
doesn't take long for the love, affection, and passion they
shared to come back to life. Can Holly and Adam see past old
hurts to trust in what they could have together?
RESCUE MY HEART is a wonderful addition to Jill Shalvis'
Animal Magnetism series. Adam and Holly make a great couple;
both are strong, smart, and brave. They rescue each other
from their fears and the emotional paralysis that can result
from past hurts. The time they spent getting reacquainted
was honest, interesting, and passionate. I always enjoy the
animals and Milo was adorable. I also love revisiting
characters introduced in the earlier books in the series,
though the story works well as a stand- alone. All in all,
RESCUE MY HEART is a must read for fans of the Animal
Magnetism series.
After a tragic stint in the National Guards, Adam Connelly
returns to Idaho and to Belle Haven, the animal shelter he
owns with his brothers. All Adam wants is to be alone.
Then he opens the door to the past—the woman whose heart
he once broke. Still gorgeous, still tough-as-nails, but
this time, unusually vulnerable.
Holly learned the hard way to never depend on a man for
anything. Now, of all men, it’s the last one she wants to
see, and the only one she needs. Her father has gone
missing in the Bitterroot Mountains and she could use
someone with tracking skills to help find him.
For Holly and Adam, each with their ghosts, a trek this
desperate, this unpredictable, and this intimate, will
have its share of risks—including opening their hearts one
more time.
