The troublesome angels are at it again! In ANGELS AT THE TABLE Shirley, Goodness, Mercy, and their apprentice Will meet Lucie and Aren. They meet on New Years Eve. They are out to celebrate and at the stroke of midnight, they wind ย in each others arms, complete strangers, thanks to Will. They make plans to meet after spending the night in a diner getting to know one another. Aren goes to the Empire State Building to meet Lucie but she never shows up. Fate has intervened and she just thinks it wasn't meant to be. ย She tries to go on without Aren, even if they only spent one evening together.
Lucie and her mother Wendy have invested everything they have into opening up a new restaurant, Heavenly Delights. It is very successful and Lucie stays very busy ย Cooking while trying to forget her one evening with Aren. One day, a restaurant critic comes to review their restaurant and thanks to those pesky angels, his meal is a disaster. His review in the paper is scathing and hurts Lucie deeply. She can't understand why this critic is out to ruin all her and her mother have built up in their business. ย she doesn't have to worry about patrons staying away after the review is published though. They all write to the paper to complain and business is as good as ever.
One night, Aren comes into Lucie's restaurant, not knowing she is the co owner. They renew their relationship and things are going so well. Until Lucie finds out something about Aren she isn't sure she can get over. Will the angels intervene and show these two how stubborn they are being?
ย ย I really loved catching up with these angels. It wasย like ย being with old friends. ANGELS AT THE TABLE was filled with love and always the laughter you expect when reading this series. I read this book on Christmas afternoon and I was filled with a very sweet easy feeling after reading it. As always, Debbie Macomber never disappoints me when I want to read a feel good, clean, loving story.
