Gabriel Rodriguez, a rancher in Forever, Texas, has reluctantly agreed to become the temporary U.S. Deputy Sheriff, at the urging of his sister, Alma, the senior deputy. Driving home during a dangerous rain storm, he views a car tottering on the edge of the ravine, finding a woman unconscious and trapped in the car. Pulling the vehicle from the edge with his truck, he then notices the doors seem sealed shut and the only escape available is to pull the woman through the windshield. A spark igniting a flame in the car nearly claims both of their lives. The beautiful young woman does regain consciousness and is diagnosed with hysterical amnesia among her cuts and scratches. Her car reveals the brakes have been cut intentionally.
With no hotel in town, Gabe installs her in his home temporarily, thinking to find another place for her to stay until she regains her memory. With no memory of her name, Gabe calls her Angel in the interim. He soon learns she is a fantastic cook and must have been a professional at same time or had special training as a chef. Installing her in Joan's Diner, the only restaurant in the tiny town, is a stroke of genius. She soon becomes a hit with her delicious and attractive fare. Angel and Gabe can no longer hold back their desire for each other and soon become inseparable. Nearing Christmas Angel has a secret to tell Gabe and he intends to propose. Before either can happen, the posters sent out have brought forth a man claiming to be Angel's fiancรฉ. Terrified of the man but not remembering him or who she is when he calls her Dorothy Mandra, the town gathers together in preventing him from forcing Angel to return with him. Detective Jake Wynters from San Antonio expects to have her, even if it's dead. Thinking the Det. Has left town, Angel is terrified when he arrives at the farm rendering Gabe helpless. However, Jake doesn't count on the toughness of Gabe and has a source to deal with.
Marie Ferrarella just keeps the winners coming. A FOREVER CHRISTMAS is full of suspense and excitement throughout. For a short story she has managed to pack a lot of feeling and excitement into it. Of course it's always good reading when you have a gorgeous and caring hero involved. I truly love everything this author writes! The pages just keep turning themselves.
