Romance Paranormal

In FORBIDDEN, Docia Waverly is walking to work one day and finds herself being knocked off a bridge and plunging into the river below. She survives, but she's no longer alone, a Bodywalker has joined her inside her body. At first she knows something is different and marks that up to the near death experience, but as she adjusts to the symbiotic being, she realizes a whole new, scary world has opened up to her.

Ramses, a member of the Politic of the Bodywalkers, is sent searching for Docia and he believes the twin soul inside her is the reincarnated Hatshepsut, wife of their king Menes. He must protect her from the Templars, enemies of the Politic led by priestess Odjit/Selena. The Templars believe they should be the rulers of the Bodywalkers and the Politic do not want them as rulers or see the subjugation of all humans. A civil war had been raging on and off for centuries. He's also having a very big problem with his duty and it is something that had never happened to him in all his years. He and his counterpart Vincent are fighting a startling attraction to Docia.

Jackson Waverly is Docia's brother and a cop and he is not having a very good time of late. First his canine partner Chico is killed and he has to accept that and get back on duty. Then they tell him that his sister and only surviving relative is dead only to find out she isn't, but after taking her home she disappears again with only a quick phone call. He and his friend Leo Alvarez are searching for her as are the Templars and it is a race to see who will get to her first.

Only Jacquelyn Frank could take legendary Egyptians, intermix them with evil Templars, add gargoyles and weave it all into an incredible new world that exists right in the middle of unknowing humans. The multiple characters could be confusing but each very clearly has their place and is important to the whole plot. The action doesn't stop until the last page and indeed the ending is explosive and completely unexpected. FORBIDDEN will leave the reader waiting impatiently to visit this world again.

SUMMARY

From New York Times bestselling author Jacquelyn Frank comes this first book in The World of the Nightwalkers—an exciting and sensual new spin-off series in which the Bodywalkers, an ancient race of the night, battles the evil forces who prey on them.

The unexpected happens in an instant. On her way to work, secretary Docia Waverley hurtles into a crashing crossroads, and she quickly begins to suspect that things will never be the same. Then, when a tall, blond, muscular stranger intervenes on her behalf, telling her it is his duty to protect her at all cost, what is just a feeling turns to proof positive. That is, as long as Docia’s savior doesn’t turn out to be a crazed kidnapper.

When Ram finds Docia, he has no doubt that she is his queen. But as this golden warrior sweeps in to protect her, he feels something more than body heat every time they touch. He is overwhelmed by a searing connection that goes deep into the twin souls inside him. A desire rises in him that is forbidden—this woman is his queen, the mate of his king, his leader, his best friend. And yet Docia is so vulnerable and attractive that she awakens a hunger in Ram that is undeniable, a carnal craving he cannot yield to . . . not without risking the very survival of the Bodywalkers.
