Bird just wanted to have fun! It was a beautiful day for just whizzing through the air in the sunshine. What could be better? Yes, a playmate and Bird spies one hiding in an old log. Hey, Squirrel! What are you hiding from? Let's go flying!

Poor squirrel! He is just too nervous to hang out. He has too much work to do and he wants to top up his last acorns in his hidden cache before that scary cat comes out. Look at that bird! Oh no, look out!!!!

While flying his loops in the sky, Bird sees something sparkling in the grass and goes to investigate. But, while Bird is busy looking, Cat, their arch enemy has crept up behind him. Bird might be pesky but Squirrel knows he has to do the right thing. What can he do to save his friend?

With his background in animation, James Burks has plenty of fans in the grades 3 - 6 crowd and they are sure to be very pleased with BIRD & SQUIRREL. Burks is well-known for creating amazing and richly colourful graphic books and his talent and bright illustrations will just pull the reader right into this highly unusual and hilariously funny journey! The storyline takes lots of flights of fancy and dangerous turns yet shows how resiliency, imagination and friendship can help the unlikely pair do awesome things!

Kids will love the grub for supper idea and the highly inventive ways these two mismatched friends strive to keep the wicked Cat from getting his paws on them. Full of puns and teasing, BIRD & SQUIRREL ON THE RUN is sure to be a hit with kids who love graphic comics! It can also be a great resource for kids of all ages who read to younger children or are learning English as a second language! This is one wild and trilling road trip you don't want to miss! Have fun!
