"A Deeply Moving & Emotional Story About One Girl's Dangerous Secret"

Fresh Fiction Review

Never Enough

Young Adult Contemporary

High school is difficult. It's even harder when you're a teenager coping with issues. Sixteen year old Loann wishes she was popular and perfect like her older sister Claire. A year apart in school, the two sisters are extremely different.

Loann has curly unruly hair, a fuller body, and is a bit of a tom boy. While Claire is a girly girl with her thin figure, perfect hair, huge group of friends, and the boyfriend that Loann wanted for herself since she was younger.

The two sisters have grown apart and Claire seems to always have an attitude towards Loann nowadays. When Loann starts to pay more attention to her sister, she finds out her perfect life is only a façade. Claire has a horrible secret that she is keeping from everyone and Loann needs to get her sister help fast.

When Loann's only friends turn their backs on her over something petty, her locker neighbor Marcus becomes her new best friend. As they grow closer, Loann becomes frustrated that she really knows nothing about this boy at all and he won't let her into his life. What is Marcus hiding?

NEVER ENOUGH is the story of a teenager and the secret life she lives right in front of her own family and friends. Deeply moving, thought provoking, and heart wrenching, I felt Claire's pain and hoped somehow she would overcome her problems. Sometimes the pretty girl cries behind closed doors. Sometimes everything isn't what it seems.

NEVER ENOUGH makes you think twice before you judge someone and how your words can really affect someone emotionally. There isn't always sunshine and rainbows at the end of the road and unfortunately not all stories have a happy ending.

NEVER ENOUGH is the kind of book that will stay with me longer after turning the last page. Emotional and all too real, Claire exists in millions of people. I will always remember NEVER ENOUGH.

SUMMARY

From the author of Losing Faith, a novel about two sisters and the eating disorder that threatens to destroy their family.

Loann’s always wanted to be popular and pretty like her sister, Claire. So when Claire’s ex-boyfriend starts flirting with her, Loann is willing to do whatever it takes to feel special…even if that means betraying her sister.

But as Loann slips inside Claire’s world, she discovers that everything is not as it seems. Claire’s quest for perfection is all-consuming, and comes at a dangerous price. And Loann is frightened she could lose the sister she’s always idolized.

As Claire increasingly withdraws from friends and family, Loann struggles to understand her and make amends. Can she heal their relationship—and her sister—before it’s too late?
