It has been ten long years since Éibhear the Contemptible
(formerly known as Éibhear the Blue) has been home to see
his family. Having risen to the rank of Squad Leader to the
Mì-runach (not unlike being the leader of a small pack of
berserker junk yard dogs aimed and fired at the Queen's
enemies) he has fulfilled his duties to rampage and destroy
with his squad until the the Ice Dragons are nigh to
vanquished. One last task and he can reluctantly return to
the bosom of his family, retrieving and accompanying Izzy on
the way. This will give him the satisfying opportunity to
apologize for the whole 'calling her a whore in front of his
family when she was sixteen' incident.
Iseabail (Izzy) the Dangerous has risen to become General of
the Eighth, Fourteenth and Twenty-sixth Legions of Annwyl
the Bloody. She and her cousin Branwen have the best life;
kicking ass, killing orcs (at the moment) and doing it all
in the name of the queen. She has her beloved cousin, and
her furry companion, which she insists is a dog (despite
Macsen's habit of eating bits of metal off the side of axes,
swords and anvils.) The last thing she needs is a big blue-
haired bastard trying to drag her home before she finishes
the current bloody campaign.
In HOW TO DRIVE A DRAGON CRAZY G. A. Aiken once more gives
her fans a love story like no other based in a world that
tends to straddle genres (fantasy, comedy, romance and
adventure) with a nonchalance that focuses more on the
outstanding storyline than trying to fit into any one mold.
Although the Dragon Kin world has little similarity
to the one she writes as Shelly Laurenston what they share
is the essence of the characters, people (and shifters) who
are completely themselves, often hilarious and for whom
readers can't help caring deeply. If you've not read any of
the Dragon books that come previously, prepare to learn how
freaking fabulous and fantastic all this author's books are
and why we love her. This is book six in the Dragon
Kin series. My advice is to read them all beginning with
book one. Start saving money in your book budget, prepare
your keeper shelves or make data space on your ereader
because after you read book one I have a feeling you will be
joining the rest of her fans in some dragony love.
Some things never go away, like vile enemies, bad ale, and annoying kin. But I thought I was finished with the one dragon I'd have done anything for: Eibhear the Blue, a big, gorgeous, blue haired beast who thinks the world belongs to him. The world and, apparently, me. So if Eibhear wants to play the caring hero and travel into the most forsaken of Gods forsaken lands to protect the one woman who doesn't need it namely me I'll let him. Because while I'm trying to fulfill a ridiculous quest for a pushy god, I'm going to draw this overconfident warlord much too close, rekindle his fires, and enjoy every minute of his delicious defeat...
