Colette Guidry is a trauma nurse in a New Orleans hospital
and her assistant Anna Huval has gone missing, but with
police can't do anything. When they look into Anna's
history they think she's just run off with someone and will
soon return. But Colette has a bad feeling that the girl is
in real danger so she goes to her friend the former
psychiatrist turned P.I Alexandria Bastin-Chamberlain for
help. Alex and her new husband Holt Chamberlain opened
their agency to help those who had no other place to turn,
and right now Colette was in that position.
Max Duhon, Holt's half brother just started at the agency
after 10 years with the Baton Rouge Police Department. He
has issues, and they include the reason he left the force
and dealing with career-minded women, but he knows all
about solving mysteries. He's immediately attracted to
Colette but knows getting involved with a client is a big
no-no and especially one whom he thinks is highly career
minded. He goes through the initial investigation with her
as his side-kick without any trouble but finding THE
VANISHING legendary village of Cache turns out to be a
bigger mystery and more dangerous than even he imagined.
Even though they do find Anna fairly quickly, there are a
number of secrets still to be solved. To Max and Colette
the biggest is the reaction they have toward each other. As
they try to find the missing villagers, the secrets of
their hearts slowly unfold until Max is more than willing
to chance his heart to Collette. As it turns out they are
both much more than willing.
THE VANISHING is action packed with layers of mystery and
emotions that pile up into a stunning finale. This one will
trip up any reader who can usually solve the mystery half
way through any other book with the author's unusual twists
and turns. The main characters and secondary characters are
captivating with varied backgrounds that shouldn't but seem
to mesh easily together. Ms. DeLeon has another winner on
her hands that readers are bound to love.
Certain death awaits any outsider who enters Cache, a
mythical city said to disappear when intruders threaten. But
P.I. Max Duhon won't let the Cajun superstition stop him
from going there. He'll do anything to help sexy Colette
Guidry and close this missing person's case, even admit how
attracted he is to his client. But as their investigation
deepens, Max finds himself protecting Colette from the
inexplicable terrors of the bayou. This includes the specter
taunting them with voodoo and a shotgun. It seems they may
have come too close to Cache and its eerie secrets—and
dangerously close to each other.
