COLTON SHOWDOWN is part of the miniseries
The Colton's of Eden Falls. This story is the
culmination of a case that has involved law agencies from
Cleveland to Philadelphia. Hard to believe there is any
woman more vulnerable and innocent than a young Amish woman
whose life has been rather cocooned in a traditional quiet
unassuming manner. Ferrarella brings great depth to the
characters in this story. She respects her readers and
doesn't go for the easy fix. The story moves at a
surprisingly fast pace and it's easy to grasp the
relationships established in the preceding books.
Simple pleasures, simple needs and simple challenges
basically the tenets of the life Hannah has known all her
life and the expectations are that her future will be at
home in her small Amish village Paradise Ridge. Paradise
ridge is nestled right next to thriving ranches one in
particular run and owned by the Colton family.
The Colton's have lived in complete compatibility with the
people of Paradise respectfully honoring the separation and
differences. All this is changing -- in one fell swoop
there is a great danger to the young women in Paradise and
other Amish communities. Someone is kidnapping them and
now several are turning up dead. What happened to these
young women since their disappearance?
The Colton siblings FBI Special Agent Emma and Detective
Tate have been working on a joint task force to find these
missing girls. They have pretty substantial reasons to
believe these girls are being sold for high prices to men
with depraved sexual appetites. These untouched innocents
commanded a high price tag and someone is making a bundle --
someone with no conscience or morality.
Now the case has transcended into something very personal.
One of the latest kidnapping victims is Hannah Troyer
advertised as "Jade." Hannah's brother Caleb is engaged to
Emma. This is to be her last case before marrying Caleb
and moving to Paradise where he lives with his children. A
decidedly big step for Emma in many ways including living
the
Amish life but all plans sre put on hold. Finding Hannah
takes precedence over everything.
The plan is for Tate to go undercover and work a deal to
buy one of these girls. He is immediately captivated
by the image he has seen of the one they called "Jade." It
seems the plan is working as expected or at least hoped
for when Tate realizing his cover is blown now has only
one goal and that is to save Hannah. And that means
running.
Tate and Hannah will have to continue running and
switching places to crash until they get the all clear.
That means keeping Hannah practically glued to his
side. Problem is the more time he spends with this
wonderful smart gorgeous woman the more he has to fight his
own attraction to her. Tate is discovering that for a very
jaded man he is finding great joy looking at the world
through Hannah's eyes. She has him almost hoping for things
that he has given up long ago. But reality is they are
from two very different worlds and after the case is
closed Hannah will go home leaving a very changed Tate
behind.
Great culmination of an investigative series that delved
into a really dark and dangerous underworld. For the
Colton's their lives had changed with the deaths of their
adored parents on 9/11. They are a very eclectic group of
adopted siblings with an amazing relationship. Every story
about the Colton's reminds us how unconventional families
make it work with love and respect.
SUMMARY
"You're safe from those monsters now." It's supposed to be the final confrontation. Philly
detective Tate Colton will go under cover to bust the sex
trafficking ring targeting young Amish women. He doesn't
count on his sting operation falling apart-or being forced
to escape with the breathtaking key witness he's sworn to
protect. Hiding in New York City with a handsome detective? Amish
seamstress Hannah Troyer's more than a little out of her
element. The big city-and men like Tate-are part of a world
that's nothing like what she's used to. As danger inches
closer, he's her only route to safety...and a forbidden
attraction she dares to indulge in.
