After a life of poverty, Miss Cleopatra Hadley learns her father is one of the richest men in London and he's willing to share his wealth if she marries into a title. Cleopatra would do anything to save her half brothers and sisters from living in squalor and agrees to find herself a lord, one who will never be able to cause the same suffering as her mother.
Lord Logan McKinney needs an heiress to restore his ancestral Scottish castle, take care of his siblings, and improve his people's lives. He's begun to think all English heiresses vapid and irritating until he meets Cleo. She's everything he wants in a bride, but can he convince her that he's what she needs as well?
LESSONS FROM A SCANDALOUS BRIDE is book two in the Forgotten Princesses series by Sophie Jordan. I haven't read the first book but have added it to my wish list of books. The circumstances surrounding Cleo, her sisters, and her father who is trying to make amends make for a tense, emotion filled back story.
The romance between Logan and Cleo is rather sweet. There are plenty of sparks flying between them for sure, but these are two people who are struggling to save those they love. They're good people who deserve good things. Their motivations are deeply felt, especially Cleo's. Her fears are well portrayed and completely relatable. This fear is the basis of Cleo and Logan's conflict and that internal dilemma drives this fast-paced story.
LESSONS FROM A SCANDALOUS BRIDE is a wonderfully, sweet story that will bring a smile to your face as you read. LESSONS FROM A SCANDALOUS BRIDE by Sophie Jordan is fun, romantic, and heart-felt.
