Sophia White is the unacknowledged illegitimate daughter of
the Duke of Hennessy. Sophia began her life in scandal and
after completing her formal education she needs to support
herself but doesn't want to do so on her back so she gains
employment at The Tantalus Club. The one of a kind
gentleman's club owner Lady Haybury only hires young
beautiful women to work for her, even as butlers which has
caused quite a scandal all over London. Sophia is used to
scandal and has found her new family at the club until one
day her father shows up and tells her he has made a match
for her to a vicar in a small God fearing town. She has
until the New Year to begin her miserable life so Sophia
accepts an invitation to Christmas at the Duke of Greaves
estate where her newly married best friend and former
roommate will be.
Adam Baswich, the Duke of Greaves has invited Sophia to
help keep things interesting and stir things up for his
annual Christmas gathering. Adam has enjoyed sowing his
wild oats but he has put off his father's final punishment
too long and he is almost out of time to meet the terms of
the will. Adam must marry by February and produce a child
before his next birthday or he will be stripped of his
title and properties. Adam decides that this holiday
gathering he will choose his bride so he invites a large
group of potential brides among his barely respectable
friends. Regrettably his plans are thwarted just a bit when
a storm knocks out the bridge to his estate taking with it
a coach and its passengers. Adam jumps into the water and
rescues a soaking wet Sophia. Adam and Sophia feel an
intense fire for one another even though they are freezing
from their dunk in the river.
RULES TO CATCH A DEVILISH DUKE is lighthearted and
delightful. Sophia is a breath of fresh air to Adam and
readers. She is comfortable in her own skin and offers up
witty remarks to the duke who is used to everyone bowing
down to him. It is captivating watching this unlikely pair
and hoping that they can find a way against all the odds
to find happiness together. I thoroughly enjoyed this third
novel of Suzanne Enoch's The Scandalous Brides
series. Each
book in the series has been enchanting and completely
different it has me wondering what Enoch has in store for
us next.
Sophia White knows she will never marry into polite
society. The illegitimate daughter of a nobleman, she
works at the Tantalus Club, a discreet establishment for
gentlemen—and her only suitor is a pastor who wants to
save her soul. So when Sophia is invited to spend the
holidays at the estate of Adam Baswich, the devilishly
handsome Duke of Greaves, she is delighted—and determined
to enjoy her last nights of freedom before surrendering
her hand…
TO CAPTURE A NOBLEMAN’S HEART
Inviting Sophia for Christmas is a daring courtesy on
Adam’s part, but he soon finds the pleasure is all his.
Sophia is beautiful, courageous, and stubbornly self-
sufficient despite her scandalous circumstances—and not at
all the kind of woman he could possibly marry. Adam knows
he must find a wife by his thirtieth birthday or he will
lose his fortune. But can he defy convention—and convince
Sophia—to risk it all in the name of true love?
