Georgia Page plans to move to Ireland to be near her sister Laura who is married to Ronan and just gave birth to Fiona. After visiting her sister a number of times in the past year and hating to go back to California. She has nothing there that she will miss; she has a real estate business and an ex, neither of these things she cares about. This now feels like home. Helping her with the new home and setting up her design business is Ronan's cousin Sean Connolly. He's also been a form of temptation that Georgia has fought for a long time. After acting on this attraction, they decide to continue with no strings, no expectations just two adults enjoying each other.
Sean offers AN OUTRAGEOUS PROPOSAL after his mother is rushed to the hospital with a heart attack and tells him she's worried she'll leave him alone. Sean finds himself telling her he won't be and he'll tell her more about his fiancรฉe when she's better. Trouble is he's lying; there is no fiancรฉe, at least not until he gets Georgia to agree to a faux engagement.
In a fit of revenge against her ex and his fiancรฉe, who sent her a tacky e-vite to their upcoming wedding, Georgia accepts his proposal. It doesn't take long before the whole thing starts snowballing on them. Sean's mother sees the priest and has the banns read, cake is ordered, there's even a marriage pool being played and neither of them is sure how to get out of it ... or if they really want to.
AN OUTRAGEOUS PROPOSAL is a well written romance with likeable characters. You are compelled to keep reading just to see what else is going to happen to corner these two adults. Ms. Child's way with words has you drinking in the atmosphere of the little village and getting to know the people there until you really want to go to Ireland to see if such a place exists.
