Lieutenant Brody Essex has been set up by his former-Marine buddies. The guys have all gone on dates using the 1NightStand agency once they returned state-side and all have had success in meeting a great woman they wanted to spend more than one night with. Brody is still active duty, but is in Dallas on 10 days leave before he has to report to Washington DC.
Shannon Fabray is an artist. She's decidesto use the 1NightStand agency to see if she can get over her fear of men that stems from a rape in college. Her art has suffered due to a lack of passion and she hopes to reclaim that passion.
The moment she lays eyes on Brody she is instantly drawn to him as an artist. She finds herself wanting to touch him, to study his form, to sculpt him, draw his every expression. Brody suggests Shannon take him back to her studio and experiment with touching him -- no expectations, no pressure, giving all control to her. Shannon begins to sketch Brody and as she orders him from one pose to another, she begins to take back control and find her passion.
HER MARINE is a sweetly erotic short story. Heather Long does a wonderful job of handling the touchy issue of rape recovery and PTSD. I really enjoy her 1NightStand series. She does a great job of building the characters in such short stories.
