"Gwen Frost's hunt for the hidden Helhiem Dagger just got more dangerous."

Paranormal | Young Adult

Gwen Frost hasn't even recovered from the last attack by the Reapers when she and her friends are attacked at Crius Coliseum while working on an assignment for school. Though she manages to survive, other students were not so lucky. When it becomes apparent the Reapers are searching for the Helhiem Dagger in order to release the God Loki, a dagger Gwen's mother hid when she was Nike's Champion, Gwen knows she has to find it first. Gwen's psychometry magic has helped her find many things but this time even her magic can't help her. With the threat of the Reapers more real than ever and knowing the lengths they will go to to achieve their goal, Gwen is racing against time to find the dagger before the Reapers get their hands on it. When a dangerous captive escapes custody from Mythos Academy with the help of Loki's Champion, Gwen knows it's only a matter of time before they come after her. First she has to protect those closest to her though; people like her grandmother and her friends, even if those friends are mad at her. With the aid of a fenrir wolf that has befriended her, Gwen races by herself to save everyone and everything she loves, but this time, going at it alone may cost her more than she's prepared to give. Just when you think this series can't get any better, Jennifer Estep amps up the action in DARK FROST and drags you even further into the world of the Mythos Academy. Gwen and Logan's relationship reads like a typical teenage love story. One minute your hot, and before you know it, things are pretty much glacier. That's part of what keeps me so engrossed in this series. Things are also constantly changing and the story keeps moving forward with each book. I especially like that the more books we get the darker things are becoming, which makes things more believable for me. And what I wouldn't do for my own fenrir wolf. As someone who saw The Adventures of Natty Gann one too many times as a child and has wanted a pet wolf ever since, reading DARK FROST is in no way dampening that desire. I won't go on and on about how great this book/series/author is but will say, if you're looking for an action-packed adventure full of danger and mystery, this is the series for you. You'll be captivated.

SUMMARY

I've seen so many freaky things since I started attending Mythos Academy last fall. I know I'm supposed to be a fearless warrior, but most of the time, I feel like I'm just waiting for the next Bad, Bad Thing to happen. Like someone trying to kill me—again. Everyone at Mythos Academy knows me as Gwen Frost, the Gypsy girl who uses her psychometry magic to find lost objects—and who just may be dating Logan Quinn, the hottest guy in school. But I'm also the girl the Reapers of Chaos want dead in the worst way. The Reapers are the baddest of the bad, the people who murdered my mom. So why do they have it in for me? It turns out my mom hid a powerful artifact called the Helheim Dagger before she died. Now, the Reapers will do anything to get it back. They think I know where the dagger is hidden, but this is one thing I can't use my magic to find. All I do know is that the Reapers are coming for me—and I'm in for the fight of my life.
