Why has Cecily Foxe put off her final commitment to the
convent? It's true that "Saint Cecily" has stayed close to
home to help her older sister Sybilla, who is facing King
Edward's wrath - an attack on her Fallstowe Castle. In
this second of the Foxe sisters' trilogy, it is apparent in
the first chapter that Cecily is too enamored of the
neighboring Lord of Bellecote to ever take vows.
There are many mysteries and a little magic in the Foxe
sisters. There is a lot of intrigue surrounding the
Bellecote brothers, and Sybilla pulls strings and works
secretly to control the lives of her sisters in order to
protect them from the King's coming wrath.
Oliver Bellecote is a charming scoundrel who is ready to be
seduced by Cecily. He feels drawn to her and is unsure
why. Cecily's confusion over suitors and the convent's
call sometimes frustrated me; I felt bad over the
heartbreak of one suitor...only to find out that he was
trying to avoid a priestly calling...and then does
something
really shocking.
The main characters weren't especially
likeable for me. I enjoyed secondary characters: Argo,
Father Perry, and especially Graves. I did not
particularly like the love interest and Cecily was
frustrating. NEVER SEDUCE A SCOUNDREL has a plat that could
have been a little more
exciting, the actions of the characters were a little too
easy to predict. Overall Never Seduce A Scoundrel makes a
good bridge book between the first and second books in the
Foxe Sister Trilogy
Lord Oliver Bellecote has a way of bringing out the vixen
in
any woman. Any woman, that is, but Cecily Foxe, an innocent
flower destined for the abbey seems utterly immune to his
charms. Or so he believes until the night they accidentally
meet in the pagan ruins of Foxe Ring, and Oliver discovers
that "Saint Cecily" is actually as tempting as sin. Cecily
would like nothing more than to forget her night of heated
passion with the dangerously handsome Lord Bellecote. But
denial proves quite impossible when she is charged with
tending his every need during his stay at Fallstowe Castle.
For only in his arms does she feel truly alive, despite the
deadly secrets that surround his past - and threaten their
tenuous future...
