Romance Historical

The scandalous Lady Kate Seaton is suspected of working with the group trying to reorganize the monarchy. Drake's Rakes will do anything to prevent the lions from succeeding including kidnapping a well know lady of the ton. Sir Harry Lidge has always done what is needed of him. Now he must hold the woman who haunts him against her will. What they learn about each other and the past they both wished to forget will change their lives forever. Eileen Dreyer has displayed the fact that one can not always believe what they see in a beautiful and exciting story. Lady Kate is thought of as a scandalous female with loose morals by the whole ton. Being talked about for your behavior is better then the truth of your past being known by all. Lidge believed all that was being said about the lady he once thought he loved. After years of doing his best not to be in her presence, his mission is to hold her against her will until the truth of her involvement with the Lions is discovered. The initial interaction between the main characters shows the vile feelings shared between them. The development of understanding that builds through the story is well written and believable. The reader can not help but feel for both characters. One of the jewels within the story is the wonderful band of supporting characters we encounter through out the story. The men of Drake's Rakes are funny and entertaining when ever they appear on the page. Lady Kate's band of misfit servants have you cheering for the underdogs. For the most part, ALWAYS A TEMPTRESS deals with the darker side of living during a period when woman were considered property, but the humor that Dreyer laces within this fact of life is uplifting and witty. I enjoyed this book for the suspense, the romance, and the humor that was beautifully mixed together in a wonderful story.

SUMMARY

His greatest battle is just beginning . . .

Captain Harry Lidge has done his duty. After losing too many good men on the battlefield, he's ready to put his responsibilities behind him and live a life free of care. But first he has one last mission: find out what the most outrageous woman in London, the same woman who betrayed him nearly a decade earlier, is concealing, before her secrets take down the crown.

Her heart is the only thing she won't risk . . .

Surrounded by ardent admirers and a few loyal friends, Lady Kate Seaton glides through the ton on a confection of couture gowns and bon mots. No one suspects that beneath her lighthearted façade Kate hides a sorrow so scandalous she'll do anything to keep it hidden. But only when she trusts Harry with the truth and only when he trusts her with his heart can they stop the villains all too willing to kill Kate to attain their ultimate goal: destroy England
