As a big fan of Mary Janice Davidson and the Betsy series
I was excited to read this book. UNDEAD AND UNDERMINED is
book two of a trilogy that is within the whole series. In
this book we find Betsy still trying to figure herself out
as well as getting used to the changes from time traveling
with her sister. So many things have changed, some good and
some bad, but Betsy must find a way to come to terms with it
all. Only Betsy and her sister remember what things were
like before, and we see how they react and live with the
changes.
While this book my not be as laugh-out-loud funny as some
of the other books in this story I still enjoyed it. I like
that we get to see Betsy growing and becoming her own
person. There is so much going on in this book. So much is
different, from people coming back to life to others being
pregnant and in love. I do not know where to start without
giving out spoilers as to all that has changed. I will say
that I still love Betsy and her sarcasm yet I am enjoying
her journey and the changes happening in her. She still has
her obsession with shoes but she is growing and I hope she
continues to do so.
The author still keeps the romance and friendships alive
in this book, keeping the foundations of the story alive
and well. I loved the depth of these relationships and hope
that Betsy will find a way to get the life that she wants.
I was stunned at what happened in the end and hope that
Betsy will keep her word on the declaration she made to
Sinclair at the end of the book. I cannot wait for the next
Betsy book to come out so we can see what happens and if
she can find her happy ever after.
Betsy’s next undead adventure takes her deep into the depths
of a Chicago morgue.
Ever wonder what it’s like to wake up
cold and naked on an embalming table? Betsy can tell you!
Waking up in a morgue is bad enough, but having to interrupt
the coroner (“you can’t have my brain,”) is her cue to
leave. Having nearly scared the undertaker to his own death,
Betsy hits the pavement and heads back to her St. Paul
mansion to find her friends and family desperately searching
for her. The last thing Betsy remembers is reconciling with
her husband, Eric, after time-traveling with her sister.
Their travel even included a side trip to hell, literally.
But the question still remains, how did she wind up naked,
dead and in a Chicago morgue? Betsy soon realizes that she
and her sister, Laura didn’t time travel alone. An evil
force, The Marc Thing, followed them back in time with the
intent to kill Betsy when she was young, ending her future
reign as queen.
But it’s not just Betsy’s future that is at
stake; everyone in her circle of friends, undead or alive,
could be in danger. And it will be a cold day in hell,
literally, before she lets the unthinkable happen.
