As her voice easily zings across the country, Isadora
Presley is the capable and compassionate syndicated talk
show host leading the broken-hearted and love bewildered
into the right rules for true love. Yet, when she logs off
and returns to her real world in the lovely and safe small
town of Deep Haven, Minnesota, she can barely cross the
road to get to the library - one of her favorite places.
Fortunately, Issy's longtime best friend, Lucy, who
operates a small but famous donut business, brings her
groceries and goodies. Traumatized from an auto collision
that killed her mother and left her father in a care
facility, Issy developed agoraphobia, fearing the loss of
any control and depends heavily on her friend.
Lucy also has her own share of problems: not only with her
business as well as her newly ignited feelings for Seb, an
old high school flame, who returned to town to get a
coaching job. After years of holding back any feelings for
him, Lucy worries that he can still break her heart. What
can she do? Who can she trust?
Further mayhem upsets Issy's small contained world when a
stray dog and a new neighbor move next door. Angered by
his thoughtlessness and mistreatment of her pansies, Issy
lashes out at him. Despite the verbal thumping, her spirit
and lovely looks captures the interest of Caleb Knight, who
moved to Deep Haven seeking to be the high school
football coach. How can he match the popular Seb to get
the job?
Wounded in the Iraq war, Caleb is left with scars from
burns and a prosthesis hiding a missing lower leg, Caleb is
determined to make it on his own in this new town. Tuning
in to catch his fave sports show on the radio, he listens
to "My Foolish Heart" which is on just before. While
finding it hard to get the right words out with Issy, the
quiet of the night and the intimacy of the computer have
him opening up his thoughts and desires to the host of the
show. As things progress and feelings heighten, he feels
confused. How can he be falling for two women at the same
time?
Well-known for her Christian and inspirational books, Susan
May Warren gains another touchdown with this delightful
tale centered on family, friends, football and trust in
God's wisdom. Warren subtly and skillfully covers a number
of themes from internet intimacy (real or imagined),
to recovery from devastating loss, to resiliency and faith.
The characters are well-crafted with realistic flaws and you
will feel for all of them as they reveal their hurt and
troubled pasts to each other. "My Foolish Heart", the
fourth book in the Deep Haven series, is a very
entertaining and inspiring romance both as a stand alone or
part of the series. Thank goodness there is another book
on the way. A veritable treat to enjoy, especially with a
delicious donut!
Unknown to her tiny town of Deep Haven, Isadora Presley
spends her nights as Miss Foolish Heart, the star host of
a syndicated talk radio show. Millions tune in to hear her
advice on dating and falling in love, unaware that she's
never really done either. Issy's rating soar when it seems
she's falling in love on air with a caller. A caller she
doesn't realize lives right next door.
Caleb Knight served a tour of duty in Irag and paid a
steep price. The last thing he wants is pity, so he hides
his disability and moves to Deep Haven to land his dream
job as the high school football coach. When his beautiful
neighbor catches his eye, in a moment of desperation he
seeks advice from My Foolish Heart, the show that airs
before his favorite sports broadcast.
Before he knows it, Caleb finds himself drawn to the host -
and more confused than ever. Is his perfect love the
woman on the radio...or the one next door?
