Thriller Police Procedural

What starts out as a seemingly ordinary murder investigation for London Detective Tom Thorne soon escalates into a series of linked killings as more bodies turn up with a mysterious piece of evidence on the bodies.

Fifteen years ago, Raymond Garvey brutally murdered seven women. He was apprehended, convicted and subsequently died of a brain tumor while in prison. Now, three years after his death, someone is killing the offspring of his victims, leaving pieces of the x-ray of his tumor clutched in their hands. Could it be that the heretofore unknown child of Garvey is now killing the children of his father's victims?

After four murders, will Thorne be able to stop this brilliantly evil monster before he kills the remaining three relatives on the list? The culmination of the case is not what Thorne expected and appalling to everyone working the complicated case.

Even though readers know who is doing the killings, his actual identity and the events leading up to apprehending him is shocking. This crime thriller will keep readers totally riveted, turning pages long into the night to reach the explosive ending.

SUMMARY

A chilling, relentlessly paced thriller of an evil that has
crossed generations, and only Tom Thorne can stop it. From
the author Lee Child has called "the new wave
leader" of crime fiction.

Night and day, country music lover Detective Tom Thorne is
on call to solve the most difficult crimes. It's a schedule
that has pushed his fragile relationship with his
girlfriend to the breaking point. In an attempt to avoid
becoming like the Hank Williams song, "A Stranger in the
Night," Thorne eagerly takes charge of what seems like, for
once, an ordinary domestic murder. But when a mysterious
sliver of bloodstained X-ray that was found clutched in the
victim's fist is replicated at other crime scenes around
the city, it becomes clear that the past is coming back to
haunt the city of London.

Detective Thorne realizes that a killer is targeting the
children of victims of an infamous serial killer from years
before. Before everyone on the list is killed, Thorne must
stop the most twisted killer he has ever hunted.
