When Kane Cannon practically trips across the woman carrying his child during a rescue attempt, he has to convince her to trust him. Although he is one of the GhostWalkers, genetically engineered soldiers who were created and used by tyrannical and evil scientists, she was part of a breeding program. Kane and Rose both respect each other, despite the horrors they've shared. However, stuck in a trap while she gives birth does not incite warm fuzzy feelings of trust for either of them. They don't want the other to be trapped in a relationship caused by genetic manipulation, nor can they deny their passion for each other.

This novel has good exposition, so the book makes sense as a stand-alone, but it creates interest in the rest of the series, as well.
