Willow Tarata lived her life with one goal-- avenge her mother's death. In a game of cat and mouse with her mother's killer, Willow has stalked and been chased by the Bad Man since she was ten years old. She supports her goal by getting paid to assassinate the evil-doers of the world.
Willow has one thing on her side; she is a Guardian of Destiny with powers originating from the Wood scroll passed down through her family for generations. She bears the mark of a Guardian, a mark her mother bared as well. At least it was a benefit until her powers led her to a pair of deaths that could be linked back to her. Trying to get away from the scene as the cops roll up, Willow uses her powers to hide in the trees. Using her power of Chi, Willow normally can evade anyone-- only this time Investigator Rick Ramirez sees her, the white witch his intuitive holistic grandma said would be tied to his soul. Now seeing a woman with white-blond hair slinking away from his crime scene he is reminded of her words. But how could abuelita be right? This woman may be the killer? No. This isn't the white witch he is destined for. No.
Kate Perry's third book in the Guardians of Destiny Series, TEMPTED BY FATE, was a kick ass romance from beginning to end. Willow and Rick have great chemistry and the world Perry has created has shown the depth of each character in such a way that you know them better than some of your friends. This book rocked as a standalone but was even better after I went out and bought the first two books in the Guardian of Destiny Series. My only complaint is having to wait for the next book.
