Night Tracker Nyx, human by day and Drow come sundown, is up-to-here with the sprite-related antics lately. It almost seems like these unorganized pranksters have banded together for some reason. When Nyx discovers the conspiracies within conspiracies connected to the sprites' behavior, dread chills every inch of her amethyst-colored (don't you dare call it purple) skin.
Night trackers and other paranorms consider Vampires the lowlifes of the nonhuman world, partly because they used to be human and partly because they are manipulative and creepy lowlifes. When Nyx discovers that Volod, the Master Vampire, has been controlling a plot to get some very important information, she will stop at nothing to keep him from putting his plan in motion. The problem is that it already is, and Nyx will have to do some fancy manipulations of her own to keep the entire paranormal and human worlds out of Volod's clutches.
An excellent continuation of the Night Tracker novels, VAMPIRES NOT INVITED does an excellent job with exposition for those who have not read the previous books and keeps the action coming. Nyx's quick wit and awareness of both her strengths and weaknesses make her a likable and interesting protagonist.
Vampire attacks are on the rise in the city that never
sleeps. So why is half-human, half-Drow private eye Nyx
tracking down Sprites? Sure, these βyoung bloodsβ are
causing mischief all over townβlike painting the Statue of
Libertyβs toenails neon pink. But itβs not until Nyx finds
herself at the Pit, Manhattan's hottest nightclub for
paranorms, that she understands what sheβs really up againstβ¦
Seems Master Vampire Volod has a planβand the Sprites are in
on it. By targeting the weaknesses of every paranorm in the
city, from Elves to Shifters to Zombies, Volod and his fang
gang aim to rule the night once and for all. Over Nyxβs dead
body. She loves a good challengeβand she will seduce danger
at every turn to throw Volod off course. Itβs time for Nyx
to enter the beating heart of this dark conspiracyβ¦before
driving a stake through it.
