I never read Harlequin Blaze until very recently, and Jennifer LaBrecque's NORTHERN EXPOSURE has totally turned me into a convert. I'm totally ready to pack up my bags and move to Alaska.
NORTHERN EXPOSURE is the story of Dr. Skye Shanahan and Dalton Saunders. Skye is forced to go to Alaska for 2 weeks to fill in for another Doctor on the orders of her mother. Her mother assumed that Skye and the doctor would fall in love. She didn't realize that the doctor was going on vacation, and they would never meet. Instead, she meets Dalton Saunders, the Bush pilot who flies her to Good Riddance.
Dalton is the quintessential bachelor in that he lives on a lake by himself. He came to Good Riddance after his father died. Dalton left behind a great job and a fiance to move to Alaska and fly bush planes. He is not looking for a girlfriend or a wife. He meets Skye and all his sense goes out the window. He becomes the boyfriend that all women wish to have; he is sweet, considerate, caring and very romantic.
Skye and Dalton have a great banter between them that is funny, intelligent, and engaging. I raced through the book wanting to read their dialogue. Their love story is so sweet and romantic. It was never cheesy or hard to read. Its often hard to believe that a love story can be told in 224 pages but it really can. All the characters were funny and likable. NORTHERN EXPOSURE is an excellent start to the Alaskan Heat miniseries. I can't wait to read the next two.
