Mystery Woman Sleuth

Las Vegas is known for it's casinos, wedding chapels, and plethora of celebrity impersonators. When you combine all three, and mix in a little tattooing on the side, you know you are in store for a great mystery -- and Karen E. Olson's latest book, DRIVEN TO INK, fills this bill to a T. Brett Kavanaugh, owner of The Painted Lady tattoo shop, once again finds herself up to her ink-filled tattoo guns in trouble when her beloved red Mustang is found to be the final resting place for a Dean Martin impersonator. Brett had loaned her car to Sylvia Coleman (mother of her rival Jeff) and her fiancé, Bernie Applebaum, to use to go get married at "That's Amore," a drive-through wedding chapel. But when the car is returned, complete with the dead body, Sylvia and Bernie seem to have disappeared and suddenly Dean Martin impersonators are dropping like flies all over town! Despite her brother, Detective Tim Kavanaugh's, objections, Brett convinces Jeff to help her find his mother and her new husband. His brilliant idea to pose as a couple looking to get married seems like a good idea at the time, but the closer they get to finding the real killer, the more it looks like Brett and Jeff might have inked their last tattoos. In the third book of A Tattoo Shop Mystery series, Karen E. Olson continues to satisfy her readers with an edgy mystery based in the liveliest city on earth, Sin City itself! As a former resident of Las Vegas, I can attest to the realism Olson brings to her story-- from the grimy back-streets to the never-ending traffic on the strip. And as a fan of tattoos, I can appreciate the realistic descriptions of tattooing that Olson incorporates into the story. I look forward to the next book, Ink Flamingos.

Brett Kavanaugh is a tattoo artist and owner of Vegas's hottest tattoo shop, The Painted Lady. And in her spare time, she does some sleuthing. After discovering the corpse of a Dean Martin impersonator-sporting a spider web tattoo and a clip cord from a tattoo machine wrapped around his neck-Brett infiltrates That's Amore, a drive-through wedding chapel, as a bride-to-be looking for the mark of a murderer...
